I have tried this Laddie 2005 before, but either at a festival or a tasting, so I never published any notes. But it’s really very good, so I want to share them. Hence I scored a sample and jotted this down. The label is a reference to Sons of Anarchy and was (most likely) designed while while inebriated…
Surprisingly sweet nose on vanilla, sugared lemon peel and pineapple. I even have some buttercups. Touch of oak, salty edge, barely any peat. Classic Laddie, but with a sugar lining, which makes it very attractive. Sweet malt and a hint of – don’t laugh – baby puke (which is not an off-note!).
It is very spirit-driven, which in this case means it’s very clean, powerful, slightly oily, fruity and sweet with a lovely development of smoke, albeit delicate. White fruit and citrus stay in the lead.
The finish is very long and smoky, putting a smile on my face.
Very nice, salty sweet, but dangerously quaffable Laddie. Was around 115 EUR, but hard to find now.
