Campbeltown Loch, I wish you were whisky Campbeltown Loch, och-aye Campbeltown Loch, I wish you were whisky I would drink you dry

Now Campbeltown Loch is a beautiful place But the price of the whisky is grim How nice it would be if the whisky was free And the Loch was filled up to the brim

Campbeltown Loch, I wish you were whisky Campbeltown Loch, och-aye Campbeltown Loch, I wish you were whisky I would drink you dry

I'd buy a yacht with the money I've got And I'd anchor it out in the bay If I wanted a sip, I'd go in for a dip I'd be swimmin' by night and by day

Campbeltown Loch, I wish you were whisky Campbeltown Loch, och-aye Campbeltown Loch, I wish you were whisky I would drink you dry

We'd have a gathering of the clans They'd come from near and far I can see them grin as they're wading in And shouting, "Slainte mhor"

Campbeltown Loch, I wish you were whisky Campbeltown Loch, och-aye Campbeltown Loch, I wish you were whisky I would drink you dry

But what if the boat should overturn And drowned in the Loch was I? You'd hear me shout, you'd hear me call out "What a wonderful way to die"

Campbeltown Loch, I wish you were whisky Campbeltown Loch, och-aye Campbeltown Loch, I wish you were whisky I would drink you dry

But what's this I see, ochone for me It's a vision to make your blood freeze It's the police afloat in a dirty big boat And they're shouting, "Time, gentlemen, please"

@Wierdo - Maybe I'm a bit of a saddo but I have that on a playlist full of whisky songs smile

Not one of my favourites but it's in a similar vein to this little number that I find myself screeching at the kids every now and then!

There are a few 'whisky' playlists on Spotify already. I listened to one by Bruichladdich which they made for the virtual whisky festival - it had some goodies on it too

I remember singing "American Pie" with university friends after closing a university pub.

@fiddich1980 The good old boys singing whisky and rye were so drunk that they didn't realize that rye IS whisky...

Sorry, I was kept up most of the night mostly by inappropriate pages. The good old boys were drinking whisky and rye, not singing them.

Not strictly a whisky song but probably my favourite ode to drinking spirits.

Thanks @RianC. It's now 3:20 in the afternoon and I have done exactly bugger all today. After I watched your entire YouTube whisky playlist, I managed to wander off into a whole series of Les Paul playing with other guitarists, like Brian May, Billy Gibbons, Dicky Betts, Larry Carleton, Steve Miller, Joe Walsh. And then on to a bunch of Bill Frisell videos and then one of an amazing Japanese girl group called Tokyo Groove doing a killer version of the old Tower of Power tune, What is Hip?

When my wife asks me why I didn't get the grass cut today, or the gutters cleaned out, I'm putting the blame squarely on you, mate. The good news is it's now 3:45 and that's getting close to being a decent time for a dram, or since it's Friday, maybe two.

Cheers laughing

@BlueNote - sounds like a great way to spend a Friday! Mine was similar, just replace the axe Gods with Mr Tumble and one of those kids keyboards with the pre set tunes on repeat all afternoon confounded

You can tell your wife I was suitably punished ha!

@BlueNote, I've got you covered. I put in a an effort yesterday big enough for both of us. What a great version of What is Hip. I love the three-string...she makes that thing sing!...enjoying it with a wee pour of cask strength Kaiyo Mizunara Oak

@paddockjudge Yeah, those girls can play. This is a bit off topic, but we can always blame @RianC. grin There is another Japanese girl group called Shonen Knife. They do a thrash punk version of the Carpenters' "I'm On Top of the World." And if you still have time to waste, Tommy Emmanuel does an amazing acoustic guitar version of "Over the Rainbow" on one of the Les Paul shows. I'd link this stuff for you if I wasn't a complete techno twat.
