Can anybody help me out? Is "Douglas of Drumlanrig" another label of Douglas Laing or is it another indepent bottler (with Douglas Laing being preferred distributor). Who knows the answer?

@Andrew: Yes, I found that website too but I had a discussion with my local whiskyretailer. He thought it was a completely different bottler. Mainly because the ones he tasted were of poor quality. So it is save to assume he is wrong and that it actually is a Douglas Laing label?

@Scotchmaster thanks for clarifying that. What do you think about the comment regarding quality of the whisky? Is that fair?

I've been to a Douglas of Drumlanrig tasting. I don't think it's of a lesser quality per say, but its probably to distinguish casks that don't live up to their Old & Rare line.

Warry I didn't mean for the simple link to be trite .. just didn't have much time. I am a buyer of independent bottleings probably 75% of my stash is independent with Douglas and Laing being the runaway favorite in terms of quality and consistency. (This may be in part because they have had the best selection of Islay whisky that I've seen in an indie) I would say that of my top five all time whiskies at least three of the top Five are Douglas and Laing with the runaway favorite being a Rare and Old 29y/o Ardbeg. I guess I just can't really imagine that they would put their name to anything that was second rate. in the end I don't think they would ever have reason to IIRC their main buisness is (or at least was) blending and that gives them an eas outlet for sub par whisky.

You may have come across it but here is a link to an interesting interview..

They talk a little bit about Langside Distillers in the inerview..
