@cricklewood It was...and there are leftovers for tonight. Our daughter found it a bit too spicy though, so next time I'll have to tone it down some.

Been trying to build my veggy cooking repertoire so I can have a bit more variety when I fancy laying off the meat.
So for lunch I made a cream and sweetcorn soup, with some potatoes for bulk. I slavishly followed the recipe and added garlic, against my better judgement - it was OK and the kids liked it but it needs some roasted pepper in the mix methinks, and no garlic. Simple, honest stodge!
Got some lovely rye and wheat bread so decided to cook mushrooms for dinner to go on some toast. Flat, field mushrooms, shiitake and oyster, fried in olive oil, butter, lots of fresh thyme but no garlic (ha, I want a clean palate later ). Topped with two poached eggs, which my partner must take the credit for - she's got the knack! It was excellent!
I enjoyed the bread that much I couldn't resist a slice with marmalade for desert!

Chicken thighs with lots of herbs, lots of garlic, a splash of white wine and a chilli. Inspired by Jamie Oliver's mate, Gennaro. The chicken is even better cold but I doubt any will be left!
30 more mins of low cooking on the hob, covered, and it's done!

Singapore Noodles...I undercooked the noodles, but the flavour was spot on. I'll do better next time...

Nothing really. Just checking in here to whet my appetite before lunch and to gaze at that effing monstrous meat hound's delight of @paddockjudge's. It worked. The saliva's running like Niagara.

Made some Viking flat Bread for lunch today. Well, the recipe was found in Normandy, and without date checking, I'm assuming it's from when the Viking settlers there had 'amalgamated' with the local populace
Looks underwhelming but very tasty - kind of like a cross between an unsweetened digestive biscuit and a pastry topping for a stew. Amazing with honey on top.

Fresh from the garden, a few early items. The pollinators did their work. Eating fresh each day….and not knowing what will be on the plate until after a visit to the garden to see what is ready to be picked…… Glen Elgin 21 YO 1995 bourbon hogshead.

@paddockjudge beautiful peppers including that lethal looking red hot chilli pepper.

@BlueNote, the peppers were awesome. The two smallest bell peppers are Cajun Belles, they are sufficiently spicy. I picked them before they had a chance to ripen and turn red, the plant was loaded with fruit and I thinned it out.
Love me some Red Hot Chili Peppers
