This is the 8th and final release in the Lads of Lobland series by the Belgian Bring Your Own Bottle Club – or BYOB-C (‘biopsy’). It was bottled in collaboration with Liquid Art. They chose a Speysider: Glen Keith 1995, matured for no less than 22 years.

The nose is quite atypical, because very herbal. At first I get plant roots, parsley, sage and candied ginger, before fruit of any kind shows itself. It’s even a tad salty on the nose. This is Glen Keith, no? Let me check the label again… yup, that’s what it says. After a few moments, I do get some sweetness in the guise of banana, apricots and dried coconut. Some eucalyptus as well. I did not see this coming, but I do like it.

It is very creamy and full-bodied. On the palate, it does turn fruity from the start and the herbal side – which is clear on the tongue as well – plays second fiddle. Coconut, sweet lemons, blood oranges, pear drops and banana. The whole is drenched in quite a bit of flowery honey. Soft on the spices. Think white pepper and liquorice, with again that fresh note of eucalyptus. Mildly drying from the oak.

The finish is fairly long, a bit waxy and drying towards the end.

I must admit, this is not my favorite Glen Keith, but it’s lovely because of its atypical character. And a worthy conclusion of this series, of which bottle 88 of 88 is in my cabinet. This means I have all the last bottles numbers from this series in my collection. My autistic side thanks BOYB-C for the opportunity.
