For our third release in the Mythical Series, Manny and I selected a young GlenAllachie that was distilled in 2014 and aged for 7 years on a very special cask: a madeira hogshead. Madeira is a fortified, long-life wine from the Portuguese island of the same name and is produced from the Tinta Negra grape (a variant of the Pinot Noir). The interplay of the wine and the malt immediately made us fall in love with this malt.

Deliciously creamy nose on apples baked in butter, strawberries, cherries, kumquats and sultanas. Something of nuts and a touch of mocha precede a hint of pomelo. Almost tropical!

Creamy and sweet on a jam of apples, pears, strawberries, cherries embellished with cloves and cinnamon. Nice and spicy. Wax and honey come in and provide that delicious mouthfeel. Really full and rich taste.

In the sweet and spicy finish, a first drying effect appears as of rosehip tea and a soft touch of tannin. That finish can safely be called long.

Delicious taste bomb that doesn't need water and an excellent choice – if we say so ourselves – for our third release in the Mythical Series. With another beautiful artwork by Ansgar Speller on the label, that goes without saying. Limited to only 50 bottles.
