Crazy Bert has a soft spot for Glenburgie, one of the fingerprint malts in the well-known blend Ballantine's. That much is certain, because this is already the 6th he has selected (the 5th under the Asta Morris label, but there is also a very nice one bottled by Signatory for him). This 6th Glenburgie matured on a former sherry cask after distillation in 2008.

Ha, autumn in your glass. Cereal with coconut, crust of double baked bread, meringue, vanilla, white fruit, overripe banana, leaves in the forest after a rain shower. But also a spicy broth, farmer's butter and even caramelized onion! Really. It’ a tad umami and I think it's fine.

Nice and oily, even creamy. My taste buds are confused. Is this sweet or salty? Hearty or fruity? A bit of both, they decide. But spicy. Pastries with apricots and mandarins in a stew opposite brown bread and a drop of chicken soup. I'm not kidding!

The finish is particularly long, nice and spicy and savy.

Captivating and dangerously drinkable. Just under 80 EUR. What a friendly price tag.
