The story of the ressurection of this distillery can be read in full detail in the well researched book ‘Glenglassaugh: A Distillery Reborn’ from Ian Buxton. I got it as a gift from Ronnie Routlegde from Glenglassaugh as a token of appreciation after publishing my video rambling on the Evolution. I read it in one swift session. And what better to sip during said session than a good dram of Glenglassaugh? I tried this one from A.D. Rattray, which was distilled on 17 December 1976 and bottled on 10 August 2006. The single bourbon cask 2968 yielded 290 bottles.

It is light and fruity with a hint of metal polish. Lemon grass, almonds, lime, malt. A bit of pears. Hints of vanilla. Very soft and accessible.

On the palate, it is a lot less subtle. Quite a bit of malt and stewed fruits. Pretty sweet and spicy. Cinnamon? Powerful, too.

In the long and drying finish, the oak emerges to leave you with a lingering but very nice bitterness.

Very pleasant spring whisky. Thanks, Stijn.
