Something's wrong here

This bottle was re-gifted to me by my aunt, and I was pretty excited to try it, knowing absolutely nothing about it. Turns out is an American blended whiskey finished in California wine casks.
Nose: Uh oh. Something is wrong here. The first word that springs to mind is "plastic". It is a sour, sickly-sweet, chemical mixture on the nose and frankly it turns my stomach. I mean that literally; I feel carsick after smelling it for just a few seconds. This can't be good.
Taste: Against my better judgement I go for a sip, trying to ignore the plasticky notes and see if there is anything to this. What I get is rotten-tasting fruit, cloying perfume, solvent-like spirit, and that's about it. My nose and mouth are both telling me this might be toxic.
Finish: Sour, bitter, and not short enough.
Balance: If I was the supreme ruler of the world, I would fine every judge at the San Francisco Spirits Competition ten thousand dollars for awarding this Double Gold. I now understand why American blended whiskey isn't really a thing in Canada. This tastes like poorly-made grain spirits matured in a rotten cask. Truly noxious stuff.
Congratulations! You may have discovered a whisky worse than Lambertus! Frighteningly, I would love to try it...
