Just thought I'd share fellas: Redbreast 21... down from about £145 to £112 on Amazon UK.

That's the lowest I've ever seen it, and the lowest it's even been on Amazon

@RikS Just got one word after readingn your post: jealous. Here in Denver, Colorado 21yo Redbreast sells between $240 to 285 USD. I would definitely purchase a 'few' bottles at the wonderfully marked down price of £112.

I bought the Redbreast 21 in Calgary for $192 CND, an excellent Irish whisky. Has anyone compare the RB 21 with the Midleton Barry Crockett Legacy?

@WtoW Compare the 21yo Redbreast with the Midleton Barry Crockett Legacy? I consider myself lucky just to be able to get a bottle of the 21yo Redbreast. Haha. I hope someone here can answer your question, just so I can get an idea of what the Midleton Barry Crockett Legacy is all about.

I heard very positive comments on it, but it's very pricey here. It's cost almost $100 more than the RB 21. Thanks for your response.

I noticed MoM (UK) have Benriach 10 at just over £30. I'd strongly recommend anyone who likes a softly sherried Speyside style with some character/spice to take the plunge.

If anyone in the UK is interested, Amazon has Macallan 12 Sherry Oak for £61. The price of this one seems to fluctuate wildly, a few weeks ago at £180, and 6 months ago at £70...

Judging from comments and reviews on here, I'm not sure though if £61 is worth it in the competition (e.g. I'm still rather curious about the Amrut Sherry).

@RikS You can get the Mac for $70 US so not great value.

@Nozinan You're right. I believe the price difference apparent (I wouldn't know as I never look at Macallan) was fictitious.

I admit.. I do like to shop around to find the best price (and thereby, I can expand my collection further at the 'same cost', simple arithmetics :-)).

So, I thought I'd share this link: www.whiskysite.nl/en/

I haven't tried them myself, but they are supposedly good (reddit) and comparing some of their prices with the UK, even including the shipping cost to this rainy island, for some expressions the economics appear to stack up rather well.

Now, if anyone is thankful for this wee contribution, do feel free to share if you know of similar retailers that ship EU-wide in Germany or Spain, for those seem to be two rather good priced markets. I have e.g. purchased quite a lot of my diving gear from a company in Spain and the experience and goods have always been flawless (diving gear, you say, what's that got to do with anything!!? Well, it's all about having a preference for liquid environments, I reply).

I just noticed this morning on the LCBO website that Highwood 90/20yo was $40. I think it’s been discontinued. I called my local store to try and transfer a couple bottles, but it would seem someone beat me to it, and has the last 3 bottles in the province on hold. My first thought was to check here to see if any of you snagged them up :P

@Mancub, they've been $40 for a few weeks....and unavailable...not for lack of trying. Some of that good Highwood juice can be found in the 17 YO and 21 YO Canadian Rockies. Only the Can Rock 21 is available in Ontario, at $114. It is about $20 - $25 cheaper out west. The hidden gem is the Highwood Ninety 20 YO with the burgundy label; perhaps available on a dusty shelf in some quiet neighbourhood.

I've tucked away a few of the Highwood Ninety 20 YO, both the white label and the burgundy label.

In June of 2013 the Highwood River overflowed its banks and caused severe damage to Highwood Distillers. I scrambled to acquire about a half-dozen of the Highwood Ninety 20 YO, not yet available in Ontario, fearing that heavy damage and catastrophic losses might close the plant permanently. The resilient crew at Highwood/Century salvaged the stocks with a superhuman effort. All bottled goods were scrapped. Production equipment was severely damaged and required repairing/replacement. The sleeping barrels located in the warehouse were very nearly lost.

Since that time I have enjoyed more than a few bottles of 90/20 and managed to keep a small cache unopened. I don't think we'll see this one again. To the best of my knowledge, Highwood does not distill corn whisky. These stocks came from the Potter's acquisition during the early years of this century. The inventory of corn whisky has been rumored to have originated from the now defunct Canadin Club facility in the Okanagan Valley...one rumor had the corn whisky being sourced from a Saskatchewan Seagram's facility. I believe the well may eventually run dry.

@paddockjudge Thanks for all of the wonderful knowledge!

I'm usually on top of price discounts and clearance sales, but haven't been paying as much attention as of late. One of my local stores always carried 6-12 bottles of this and had I seen the price decrease in time I likely could have grabbed some. Oh well, I'm grateful to have been able to try it before it disappeared!

Seems Amazon has slowly started their 'run-up to xmas' pricing. I just got tracking notification that GM Lasanta is on sale, as is Laphroaig Lore. Just in case anyone....

UK - Noticed Talisker 10 at £30 in Tesco today - as cheap as you'll get it nowadays. Also noticed they had the JD SB Rye at £40 rather than £50 and the standard JD Rye at £25 ish.

Ardbeg 10 was £36 (ish) at Sainsbury's as well.

For those in Calgary, zyn has the Canadian Club 41yo for $239. Comes to $250 with tax. Cheapest I’ve seen by $50.

@Nozinan keep in mind - I wrote cheapest (as in less than other places had it for), not cheap (as in affordable). At the lcbo, unfortunately, a $140 spending limit limits the options quite a bit.

@Nozinan
Nozinan replied

@nooch That's why I RARELY purchase a the LCBO.

I bought 5 W35s - at $165 (Ha Ha KGBO) 4 for @paddockjudge and one for our agent in Calgary (who got us several Lot40 CS at under last year's price). But most of what I've acquired the last 2 years has been outside Ontario

Why pay $173 for an Oogie here when you can get it for $80-90 in Alberta?

$140 will still get you good stuff in Calgary.

@Nozinan 100%. Can’t remember the last bottle I bought in Ontario. Maybe Laphroiag QC. What I’ve picked up has been from either Calgary or duty free the last 3-4 years.

@OdysseusUnbound Take a look at Liquor Depot/Liquor Barn. They have well over 300 single malts listed and tons of good ones around $100. I'm looking at Uigeadail and Corryvreckan both at $109. Lots of others around $80-$100.

@Nozinan Yes, that’s what I thought. I was surprised that Corryvreckan was that price. My last Oogie from Calgary (about a year ago) was $80 +5% GST. Corryvreckan in BC is well over $160 with taxes.

MoM doing Nikka From The Barrel at £33. That's pretty good value for such a decent whisky, especially a Japanese one!

Other good deals there: Talisker & Laphroaig 10 at £30, Roku gin at £25 and Pusser's Gunpowder Proof rum at £32. I'd heartily recommend the rum . . . yaaarghh
