@Victor @OdysseusUnbound Quid, me vexari? (With apologies to Alfred E Neumann).

They haven't f'd it up yet, but I'm sure they will: the LCBO website is showing that Laphroaig's 10 Year Sherry Cask offering (48%) is coming. I shouldn't get too excited because I'm sure we unwashed plebeians outside the GTA/Ottawa will never get a chance to purchase it, but I suppose I should never say never. I've tried this expression before and it is quite tasty. Well, the batch whence came my sample was tasty.

@OdysseusUnbound They will have a bunch available online to ship to your store. The 10 cask strength and Cairdeas will pop up to

@Nozinan The maritimes had the 10 CS as well as Alberta and BC. When I asked HelloLCBO months ago they said it will be available in Ontario. I would think shortly as in NS all 3 came out at the same time but sold out quickly. The CS was $139 and the Cairdeas was $109

There are a few allocated single malts and bourbons on the Vintage Shop website right now. If you want your chance to not get anything and strike out on Blanton's Gold, Weller 12, Weller Full Proof, Weller CYPB and more, go there now.

@OdysseusUnbound There was nothing on that list that I was remotely interested in, except maybe the Michter's Bomberger, but not at that price.

@OdysseusUnbound they should have about 12 bottles each if that many of the Weller's. That CYPB would be the ultimate trade bottle.

I just saw that Old FItzgerald BiB is coming to the LCBO for the bargain price of.....$200 per bottle. I'd love to try it, but not at that price. Sheesh.

So this is what the LCBO has been reduced to. Considering Blue Spot and Cairdeas had no such limits

@Astroke, too funny! They know it won't sell (quickly), so they set the hook with a two-bottle-limit on Glenrothes Whisky Maker's Cut....no thanks, for me zero marginal utility is reached at about ten seconds after the cork is popped. I'm not a fan of young Glenrothes, certainly not the distillery releases.

@Astroke I ordered 2 bottles of Talisker 8 year CS instead….

I've just seen on the LCBO website that a batch of Laphroaig 10 CS will soon be "available" for purchase. Of course for those of us who don't live in a major urban centre or aren't monitoring the LCBO website 24/7, the odds of securing a bottle are next to nothing. It is comforting to know that the flippers will have a new income stream though. Good for them.

Oh, and I almost forgot; Talisker 10 year old is now listed at $120 per bottle. How absurd can things get? The LCBO is channeling the spirit of a former Prime Minister these days and saying "Just watch me". (Point of comparison: Talisker 10 is $81.50 in Québec).

@OdysseusUnbound That is ridiculous! I just bought the Talisker 8 CS (much higher ABV adds to price in alcohol tax and only 2 years younger) for $120. Looks like the LCBO is doing its best to eradicate FOMO.
As for Laphroaig CS, I received a link to it and it said no bottles available. I thought I had missed out. So all you have done is set me up for disappointment twice for the same bottle. It's pricy compared to the price I paid in the US, but I think I would be tempted to shore up my position by one bottle if I do get the chance. It is usually THAT good.

@OdysseusUnbound I just bought a bottle of Talisker 10. It was on “sale” at BC Liquor Stores. 5 bucks off at $95.99. That equals $110.50 after tax at the till. FirsT bottle of Talisker 10 I’ve bought since 2018 when I bought one at a Co-op store in Scotland for 30GBP.
@Victor As for Laphroaig 10 Cask Strength, it’s a matter of SOOL (Shit Out Of Luck) here in BC.

@OdysseusUnbound Outside of Quebec the price of Tali 10 is pretty bad across Canada, even Alberta after taxes is $100 plus before shipping. Other than the occassional special releases that comes out at a resonable price or FOMO induced, I do not buy SM's from them. With the endless independent bottles in Alberta, why bother with the LCBO.
I am curious though as to how much revenue is pumped into Alberta by the rest of Canada and especially Ontario through online Whisky/spirit sales.

@Victor The LCBO has pretty much cured me of FOMO. I suppose COMO has brought me to this point. It's a cynical take for sure, but then is it cynicism if you're right?
@RianC even at £40, that's about $65 CAD. At that price, I'd never be without Talisker 10. It's one of my faves but man, $120 is pricey.

@Astroke The challenge with buying/shipping from Alberta is that one needs to purchase a significant amount of bottles to make the extra shipping cost/taxes worthwhile. My wife would not be happy if 6 bottles showed up at my place since she already thinks I "have too much". What does that even mean?
