If I hypothetically had the money at this time... :) my next purchase will (hopefully) be the Talisker gift pack. In Ontario, Canada, this product is being discontinued, so I believe that it is the three pack version that includes the 10yo, the 18 yo, and the Distillers Edition bottles in the 200 mL (20cl) size. Besides its' impending demise in my neck of the woods as a reason to purchase, it is a great way to sample three variations of Talisker (very important for someone just getting into the SMSW game) when the 10yo is normally the only one available here.

If I was to buy a single full bottle, Highland Park 12 would be the next one in line.

@Pudge72 Terrible news of the Talisker gift pack! Definitely a good idea though to grab it while it's still around, it would be a nice little addition to your cabinet. Might I ask if you are re-stocking the Highland Park 12 or tasting for the first time?

@Youngupstart...tasting HP 12 for first time, going entirely off of a lot of very positive reviews, a decent price for this area ($60 Can in Ontario), and the fact that it would seem to be a good stepping stone (from a taste development standpoint) to getting into the Islay's (which I have tasted some of before, and appear to love...especially the smokiness of Lagavulin 16).

Well, payday wasn't hypothetical in my case, I just received a little bonus at the office and immediately spent part of if purchasing the Auchentohsan 30 Year Old Bourbon Barrel Matured. I've had my eye on that one for over a year. I'm glad it's finally becoming a part of my Toshan collection. I tasted it at the distillery and it was absolutely brilliant!

Hypothetically... I am looking at a few. Caol Ila 12, Compass Box Spice Tree, and an Aberlour. Either the 12 or the A'bunadh. I don't have any real sherried bottles in my collection (Uigeadail not counting) and I feel like I should.

@OCeallaigh, when you try it, I want to hear what you think about the A'bunadh. It's a big-time experience.

Working off of my wish list, I'll be looking to bag Bunnahabhain 12 and Glenlivet 12. which will complete the initial list of SMSW I made a couple months ago and will provide me with representation of each of the four main flavour camps. Sazerac 2010 Thomas H. Handy is also in sight as I expand into American whiskey's.

@HP12 Just recently had a tasting including the Bunnahabhain 12 and 18, both were truly superb. I would personally say it was well worth the money for the tasting, so most definitely a bottle to buy.

@Jean-Luc Just hearing of the Connemara Turf Mor, went to check out the reviews and this sounds like something I want in my cabinet! If I can find one around here I will definintely have to purchase a bottle.

@Victor I have actually tried it before. I had a dram at this pub I frequent. It is an interesting thing, I had HUGE anticipations, but then I was a little disappointed. Partly I think because I had built it up so high, and partly because it was like noon and that is pretty intense for so early in the day...

But the weirdest part is, even though I had mixed feelings on it then, I have been craving another one lately... What does this mean????

I think it means, I need to have another one.

@Piero Yep, that's the one (and it's also where I purchased it). And it arrived today (I feel like a kid opening his X-mas present).

I try to keep a list of things to buy on my connosr profile's wishlist, but it just seems only to be growing longer. There's a need to replace the emptied favorite bottlings but also to try out new ones. This month i will to do some replacing. Dalwhinnie 15 yo and Bowmore 12 yo are the happy winners i think.

Also, i'm trying to get the new, back to higher strength Highland Park 21 yo 47,5%. I tasted it recently and really really liked it. It stood out on a tasting of the 18 yo, the 1990 vintage retail and the 30 yo, so it wasn't because of lack of competition. Unfortunately i haven't seen it on sale yet. Perhaps on travel retail?

@Fergie71 Hello from Ontario...you are indeed correct, it is being carried through the good ol' LCBO for $99.95 for the 700 mL bottle. This is a link to the full list of locations who have it in their inventory (as of yesterday's daily inventory check):

So choices for this coming paycheck, Glengoyne 21, Glenfarclas 21, Duthies Bowmore 17, Ardbeg Corryveckan, Port Charlotte (6,7, or 8), or a few suggestions? (I am currently thinking of buying two of which stated unless someone has a decent opinion of something else) What do you think of my current list for the near future?

I think it has to be Bunnahabhain 12 year old. The hint of peat smoke in the Highland Park 12 has caught my palate. Going to ease into the Islay.

Think I might get some Bunny 12 too. I had a bottle last year, but it was the old 40abv. It was ok but I've heard the new bottlings they're putting out are fantastic
