Does anyone have any info on the Isle Of Jura Elixir that has appeared on the shelves at Sainsburys Supermarket in the Uk? The Jura website makes no mention of it and it's not listed in the Jura section on this website. When you take it out of the box the bottle simply states Jura 12yo. Any ideas or info on this? Cheers.
A mate of mine wondered about this and actually contacted Jura directly. Their explanation was that there was only so much room available on a 35cl bottle, so they left the "Elixir" off. I reckon they could have squeezed it on there somewhere, but then it might be a trait of theirs. My 16yo "Diurach's Own" doesn't actually state "Diurach's Own" on the bottle anywhere, just the box, and that's a 70cl bottle. Thankfully it doesn't hinder my enjoyment of the tipple inside the bottle!
I actually won of dram of the Elixir a few weeks before the initial release. It's very, very light. I kind of feel that they are trying to target a young demographic of inexperienced drinkers with the Elixir. It's very simple overall, without much of a highlight. Some candied fruit, a bit of oak, but it's so rounded and soft it doesn't work for me. I'll be curious what the connosr community makes of it in time.
@CJV8 Last I heard, the "Diurach's Own" is only labeled as such when purchased in Scotland. All the "export" bottles just say "16 year old." However, I've seen both bottle styles in the US, so who's to say...
