Nose: Earthy, mineral, vegetal, and smokey like a mezcal. After it breathes a bit, it becomes sweet with caramel notes and it also becomes medicinal like an antiseptic or band aids.

Taste: Very strong vegetal and medicinal notes intermingled with smoke, rubber, roasted barley, and brine. The flavors are intense and rich. This spirit demonstrates immense power with not only flavors but weight. It's full bodied with a nice tannic grip, peppery sting, and a medium lasting heat.

Finish: Smoke, more smoke, roasted agave, band aids, rubber, and yes, more smoke. The finish is long, warm, and satisfying.

This Lagavulin 12 isn't the best 12 I've tried, but year after year, the 12 seems to be the best malt Lagavulin has to offer. Sometimes you just want something that hits the spot. A big powerful Whisky to kick you in the teeth and leave you feeling warm inside on a cold night. This is that dram.
