Laphroaig said...
"Hi. 55.7 ABV was the strength of the Cask strength prior to 'Batch Bottling' as we do now. This years is batch no 005. So to answer your question... This bottle is most likely to be 2007."
I will ask if they have a more detailed description of how their bottling codes work but that answers the initial question.

@rigmorole thanks for starting this tread. I am very interested in the answer . . . but currently have no clue. Enter then mystery of the Laphroaig bottle codes . . . but they seem too random. Here is what I have to help the discussion.
Code found on the outside of the bottle near the bottom in faint white letters:
Laphroaig 10yo CS batch 002 = L035057A 12:05
Laphroaig 10yo CS batch 001 = looks like there was a problem with the lettering machine . . . most of the lettering is warped until . . . 12:41 3 ML
Laphroaig 10yo Cask Strength Red Stripe (bought 2005) = LF114R1K 04:05
Laphroaig 30yo (bought 2006) = LS76526
Code found inside the bottle behind the front label:
new presentation Laphroaig 10yo = L232657B 13:09 (bought a few months back)
new presentation Laphroaig 10yo = L315657A 15:17 (bought this week )
Laphroaig 10yo CS batch 004 = L202457A 13:00
Laphroaig 10yo CS batch 005 = L305657A 08:08
My guess is that since they moved to the bottle code inside the bottle there might be some consistency. Still, it doesn’t seem like cracking this code for dating the bottle is going to be readily forthcoming.
Anyone else?

Does anyone know how to decipher the Laphroaig bottle codes?
I have a bottle of the Original Cask Strength, 55.7 ABV. I'm trying to figure out the year it was bottled.
On the bottle, the following codes: 89540446798 and M01541.
I know that this original cask strength bottling was only made in 2004, 2005, 2007, and 2008 for the USA. I live in the USA.
