Lightly syrupy on the nose with treacle, biscuits and a floral arrangement in the background. Slightly grassy. Very light in style as you'd expect of this now defunct Lowlander.
Sweet palate - again syrup and treacle. But then comes a sharp fruit tang. Cereal notes and slightly wheaty. Develops a smooth, thick mouthfeel as it opens up in the glass.
It kind of melts into the tongue and provides a lingering sweet finish that slowly fades to a delicate bitterness.
There is something mysterious about sampling defunct distilleries. Sadly, Littlemill was destroyed by fire ten years ago after it had been mothballed so we will never see anything from it again.
I'll be honest and say the lighter lowland malts are not my preferred style but it was too good an opportunity to pass up, knowing that stocks are ever-diminishing and prices will just go up and up.
