amazon.co.uk/Walker-Anniversary-Celebrator…

Hope the link works. Looks like this may be another 'Amazon Exclusive' but wondered if anyone else had seen this? I'm intrigued but for £50+ there are more desirable things out there.

As with any release, tasting and smelling it for yourself is required to form an opinion as to relative quality and value. With special limited releases if is often not possible to get those samples in advance of a purchase decision deadline. Buying blind = buying on intuition. How good is your intuition?

On the positive side, the ABV is adequate and this particular release appears to invest the company's name and tradition more than most, which is very affirmative in supporting the company's desire for establishing a good reputation for this whisky. Best case scenario? This is Diageo/Johnnie Walker's showcase first release of a new emphasis on selling blended Scotch at reasonable sipper's ABVs, viz 50+%. Maybe they read Connosr occasionally and know that almost no one on here is happy about 98% of blended Scotch being sold at 40% ABV.

Would I buy it? I'd want to taste it first, or at the least read some reviews. In the USA we may not see this until after it is sold out in the UK and there are multiple reviews there. Good for us, not so good for you in making a decision in your position.

I like Green and Blue (though I would not pay the exorbitant price for the latter). If this one were to come in at $93.95CA / $71.24 US(according to today's exchange rate) I would buy it on spec. Only one. If I liked it and there were more left... I might get another.

@BlueNote - Seconded! If I had the cash spare I might be tempted to buy it for the novelty and in the hope it's a favourable representation of what JW, I mean Diageo, can roll out. As it is ... 'Sleigh bells ring, are you listening? smile

What does 51% mean? Is that the percentage of e150 to whisky?

@Wierdo no, it's the percentage of the unit cost that goes into marketing.
