Old Rhosdhu is a malt that was distilled at the versatile Loch Lomond distillery from 1966 to 2000. In 2021, A.D. Rattray launched this malt after 27 years of maturation.

Sweet nose on white orchard fruit, beeswax and passion fruit with a hint of woodsmoke. There is also something of cardboard in it, but without disturbing. Ferns and some other funky notes. Pretty fascinating.

Good body. Creamy and pungent. The strength is almost perfect to enjoy without adding a single drop of water. Fruity on both white fruits and more tropical varieties such as lychee and sultanas. A bitterness like the white meat of grapefruit. Wonderfully balanced.

Nice and long, bittersweet finish.

Those Old Rhosdhu from the early 1990s are really worth your while. A bottle will cost you about 275 to 325 EUR, which seems very expensive compared to the 27-year-old Old Rhosdhu 1993 that was bottled by MMM for only 165 EUR.
