Another interesting Auzzie number. This is produced in the Barossa Valley of South Australia which is better known for the production of beefy red wines (Shiraz, Carbernet-Merlot's and alike). This whisky has been matured 12 years in bourbon and i believe distilled in an ex-cognac still
Nose: densely fruity, rum soaked raisins, marmalade, raspberries and also some dill.
Pallet: Liquorice, oak tannins, barley sugar, caramel, and more than a nod to cognac. This liquid sort of sticks to your teeth giving it a very chalky texture.
Finish: cognac, liquorice, dried fruits especially apricot, dill comes back and some vanilla
Mark neat – 8.3
It's sweet, rich and quite lovely
