Forsake early bed to open my Glenlivet Nadurra. Glad I did. It's fantastic! Two hours well spent.

@YakLord There's a few stores near me that sell the Scapa 16 yr for a pricey $70 to $75 - however I purchased a few bottles via "wine searcher"...If I remember correctly I paid roughly $55 per bottle.
BTW - ya think we'll have an NHL season?

Scapa 16 yr - was $64 per bottle (bought 3 bottles - the price included the shipping).
www.gillettewine.com - outta Conneticut is currently selling it for $45 per bottle; give them a call to see if they'll ship to Canada.

@FMichael - I meant taste wise, but thanks for the links...only problem is import duties, etc. (plus the fact that shipping alcohol by mail is illegal in Canada). If I was down in the States, I'd certainly be looking for another bottle! As for the NHL? At this rate, probably not...

Started with JW Green Label. Then personal blend of Black Label (one of my fav blends) with an oxidized Laphroigh. 10 yr with an awesome chaser of Leinenliugels Honey Weiss. Discussing last nights political results with a good friend. Can't get any better than this.

Aberfeldy 12. Honey, I'm home. Like a well worn path, Aberfeldy 12 takes me back to a place I want to be. Hard to describe.

Thomas H. Handy 2010 release (126.9 proof). Thanks again @Victor for the encouragement to jump on it. I had almost forgotten how good rye can can be.

Checking in on a few of my bottles before doing a tasting a little while down the line with one of my basketball groups: Talisker 10 and Ardbeg 10...also Royal Canadian Small Batch. @talexander, yes that Royal Canadian is starting to open up nicely after just 6 days.

New bottle. Black Bull 30 yo. Richest, tastiest blend I've ever had. A chocolate caramel factory on an autumn day with a pile of leaves burning in the distance. Worth every penny.

So far tonight:
Lagavulin 16 - very enjoyable dram, my favorite Islay thus far. Longmorn 16 - a bit big for it's britches if that makes sense, it would be a good $50 whisky but it's not the best $80 whisky. Glenlivet Nadurra - wonderful! Liquid candy... Aberlour 16 - a bit flat in the middle but extremely enjoyable. HP12 - my wonderful introduction to whisky beyond what can be found at bars. Bunnahabhain 12 - killed the bottle tonight. Enjoyable but I don't intend to replace it.

Opened a Dalmore 12 yr, never as good as when it oxidizes a bit, in a week or so it will be perfect, followed by a few Lagavulin 16yr. it's gonna be a great night.

Just kicked the night off with a little HP 12. Talisker 1998 Distillers Edition to follow.

@Victor - that Royal Canadian Small Batch is reminiscent of some of the 70's and 80's Seagram's CR Ltd Ed. Thank you Drew Mayville.

Four Roses 2012 Small Batch Limited Edition. First, let me say that I prefer scotch to bourbon by a wide margin. Second, let me say that this is the best whiskey drinking experience I have had since the Balvenie Tun 1401. I will be stocking up on this. Recent bourbon tastings include the Pappy 20 YO and the 2012 George T Stagg. This beats them both.

@Onibubba I tasted that at WhiskyFest NY and I did quite like it, much more so than the standard Small Batch expression, which I am not fond of. But sorry no, not one of my top bourbons, the Stagg for me takes the cake!

Just finished a session that consisted of Balvenie Doublewood, Glenfarclas 12 and Clynelish 14. Very satisfying.

Massive sale ($17 off!) at Manulife LCBO of Ballantine's 17 (one of my top favourite whiskies) means I have a new daily dram....until they run out of stock. Which I'm working hard to make sure they do.

@talexander. What is the regular price of Ballantine's 17 in Ont? It's a ridiculous $77 here in BC.

Yikes! I didn't think it could get much worse than here. I just paid $180 to replace my Laphroaig 18 that I bought for $91 in Oregon last year. I don't know about you, but I have very little to contribute to the "under $50" thread.
I know it's only Monday, but I've just depressed myself enough to crack open my Old Pulteney 21 tonight ($190). Or maybe my HP18 ($150) or the Corryvrekan I've been saving ($146). Oh, well, shouldn't complain, we have our social safety net to pay for, and if I rot my innards with whisky our medical system will look after me. Cheers.
