I was attending a very nice Glenarclas Masterclass and was able to try a few cask samples (plain cask, Sherry first fill all cask strength), a decent dram of Glenfarclas 1968 with unbelievable 65,1 % ABV and Glenfarclas 1965 - all from the first batch of the family casks series. On Sunday I had a wee tasting at my place for some friends and we had Ardbeg 30 yo, Ardbeg 1978, Ardbeg Kildalton, Brora 35 2012 release, Glenglassaugh 1972 single cask for Germany, a Karuizawa from 1972 and a blend called royal household from the 1980´s which was produced for the royal family in England - what a week.

Kind of a weird story. My step father brought me a miniature filled with something unknown since the bottle went missing for at least a year and we can't remember. We do know that it is probably an Aberlour a'bunadh or 17 yo Balvenie (maybe Sherry Oak???). I'll drink it tonight. One way or the other, it is sherried. One clue, the alcohol content in the Aberlour is around 60% and Balvenie is 43%.

@FMichael. I see in the 2013 Whisky Bible that the esteemed Mr. Murray gives low marks to both the Springbank 10 and the HP 12. I am down to the last dram or two of both and regardless of JM's opinion, I'll be replacing them both.
Tonight I think I will crack my Talisker 2000 DE.

@BlueNote It's a good thing that I don't pay attention to Jim Murray - lol.

@HopScotch, difficult as they all were fantastic but the Karuizawa, the Glenfarclas 1968 and the Brora 35 are my faves.

Tonight's lineup includes orange juice and tea. Battling a nasty flu bug. It'll be at least a few days before the nose and palate are whisky-ready. :(

I had rum tonight. I finished off my bottle of Captain Morgan Private Stock. I've been itching to try a new one, that I can't quite remember the name of at the moment, so I cleared some room on the shelf.

@WhiskyBee - Rest up and hope you feel better soon. I will drink a dram to your good health.

Tonight I had a dram of Talisker 2000 DE and a dram of Lagavulin 1993 DE. The Talisker is pretty good, but the Lag is the clear winner.

Tonight I'm drinking Glenlivet Nadurra. Not the dram I was hoping for when I purchased it, but it's not half bad. Cant wait to try some samples of Jura that I've got coming though! Never tried that distillery!

@PMessinger Glenmorangie is something I give to newcomers. It won't scare them off and is oh so drinkable!

I'm enjoying Black Maple Hill bourbon. Delightful. But still my favorite in this category is Wild Turkey Rare Breed. George T Stagg is in a different class.

It's Summertime, 'Down Under' & at 7 am. Brisbane EST., a warm 25.7* C. heading for a top temp. at 2 pm. of 37+* C. Well, now, what to drink? Water and chilled Ale seem the logical choices - Probably go with the Beer option...surprise, surprise! My Wife has a bottle of cask strength Plymouth Dry Gin which she removed to a secret location just as I was getting a taste for G&T with a wedge of Lime and a large ice cube in a tall glass!
Cheers!
