Having a Willett Family Estate 9yr single barrel bourbon hand selected from Binny's , could be my new favorite . Bottled at 63.25% the flavor doesn't stop, Special thanks to Victor for the recommendation.

Last night, Rick Culver and I shared 2 Ledaigs (10 Year Old and Duthies 13 Year Old), Lagavulin 12 2010 Release, a non-retail sample of Glenfiddich 9 Year Old peated malt (distilled 2003 - and at 63.5%!), Black Bull 40 Year Old Batch 1 - and finished the night with a Martell XO Supreme cognac!

Shared the remainder of the HP 21 from our recent tasting with some friends at a Christmas Open House (the host was the one who'd walked away from the tasting with the rest of the bottle).

@A'bunadhman - The Longmorn I've had open for awhile and it is a wonderful Christmas dram. The Rosebank, Kilchoman and Port Ellen were all new bottles opened last night. Also, @EvaRees brought the Longrow CV and the 21 Bowmore. They were all amazing! The only disppointment was due to the order sampled more than the whisky. I should have poured the Aberlour 16 before the Rosebank.

@bwmccoy: Thank you. I think comparative tastings are the icing on the Whisky Cake - the last serious tasting we attended had some amazing Whiskies, among them some specially selected Distillery samples: The Whisky that knocked everyone out was a std. Highland Park 18 yo. that he had purchased in Australia; it was sensational in the finest company!
God! I love this stuff.
Slainte!

@olivier: It's 7am. in Brisbane, Australia and 30* C. already. Cold water for me. Had a W/T 101 Rye last evening and didn't really enjoy it; added an ice cube and it was drinkable - Much better than the warm version anyway! Tonight I will try the ' Old Glencairn in the freezer for an hour or so trick'! Wish me luck.

A few months ago I purchased the Ardbeg 10 yr, and enjoy a wee bit.....Haven't touched it since until tonight.....Really nice.....IMHO it gives the older, and considerably more expensive Lagavulin 16 yr some serious competition.....Even "Constantine" likes Ardbeg - www.youtube.com/watch

Just picked up a bottle of Highland Park 12 Year Old with a friend of mine. It is my first Single Malt, and it was amazing. We had a dram each yesterday while building a christmas tree for him out of playing cards (see:my profile picture).
I'm new to whisky and heard that this was a good starting point for single malts. I'll probably have another pour this evening or tomorrow.
I had actually picked up two bottles. The HP12 and Knob Creek 9. I let him choose which of the two bottles we cracked, and he chose the HP12, so that's why we went with that one. I'm going to try to hold off on having the Knob Creek until he comes over in 2 weeks, but I don't know if I'll be able to stop myself from opening it too.

Rittenhouse Rye 100 Proof - it's sweet, spicy, peppery and strong. The last 10 days have been rough...Sandy Hook broke my heart and shook me to the bone.. This dram is just what I needed tonight.

Christmas Eve and it's beastly hot: Tried the 'Old Glencairn in the freezer for an hour or so trick' (with apologies to Maxwell Smart) and the W/T 101 Rye was OK! It was a little cold when I poured but held in the mouth for a minute or so it seemed to explode with flavor...another problem solved!
Wishing all members Seasons Greetings and the most wonderful new year 2013.
Take care.
