@teebone673 I don't have any Lagavulin in the cabinet right now, so I guess I'm forced to settle for Uigedail. Damn.

Having a few Abbey Beers at the moment and when I finish I will settle into a couple glasses of Grant's The Family Reserve Blended Scotch. Anyone else a fan of Grant's? I tried it for the first time the other day and I must say...I'm lovin it! A quality budget blended scotch I must say!

@CanadianNinja Definitely a solid blend - quite underrated, in my opinion.

@CanadianNinja, Grant's Family Reserve? Not just good. Great. And perhaps the very best value in all Scotch whisky on the market.

Big Peat and it really is a fine Whisky! The version available locally is far and away the best Big Peat we've seen so far - I'm not surprised that the Rev. Jim gave last years' bottling 96 pts. If anything, this years' drop is even better.

This Whisky has everything and all in the right amounts and, of course in the right places in a perfect 'seamless' balance that screams Islay: It has a fantastic mouth-feel that is deliciously malty and caresses the tongue in a velvety embrace that would not be out of place in a Whisky costing three times what Big Peat currently does!

To say that this Whisky is a triumph for Douglas Lang is an under statement, indeed. Enjoy!!

Slante!

@CanadianNinja Family Reserve is certainly high on my list of blended scotches.

Now that it's quiet at our house, I thought I'd try a bourbon, BuffaloTrace. If anything, I'm finding by looking at my notes, this is quite consistent for me in my tastes. And its growing on me :)

@teebone673 Got a silly question to ask ya...Is it me, or do you happen to taste "Trident" gum (the original in the blue/white packaging) in the Talisker 12 yrvbecause I certainly do...

Anywho - it's a good dram nonetheless.

Kirkland Signature Premium Small Batch Bourbon aged 7 years 103 proof that I picked up at Costco this am. I've been puzzled why many like the higher proof. I've detected more notes in this than other bourbons... hmmm.

@FMichael I assume you mean the Lagavulin 12. I'm not sure if its trident gum, but I definitely get something hot and spicy. If I remember correctly, trident is a hot cinnamon gum so I could see getting that from the 12. Lagavulin 12 kicks you in the teeth and I like that.
