Dramlette and I are toasting the victorious Baltimore Ravens with Ocotmore Orpheus and Pappy Van Winkle 15. Winning ugly is the Baltimore way. Go Ravens!

@Victor Wow my mate will be supremely upset that his 49'ers didn't get up (he's 100% Aussie, just into NFL for some reason). How's the Orpheus?

Victor replied

@systemdown, how is the Orpheus? The Orpheus is "Oh My God!" good...every single time I have some...it is one of very few bottles I could see paying $ 200 for.

The Pappy is tasting mighty fine also...

@Victor Excellent, yeah the Orpheus is definitely on my list to try if I can get a hold of it some time. I didn't ask about the Pappy because I just don't have the requisite experience in that area!

Balcones Texas Single Malt. Wow. Wow. The more I drink the better it gets. I really like this. Easily the best American single malt I've ever had and I'm a huge fan of McCarthy's Oregon single malt. I'm looking forward to trying all the other offerings from Balcones!

Bruichladdich Islay Barley 2006.

First, the last dram of the old bottle (open four and a half months). Wonderful, open, revealing, free.

The first dram of the new bottle. Tight, closed, not at all giving of its true value. Quite a contrast.

@Victor A few days late here, but I didn't think the big black birds' win was ugly. It's a "W" and a ring.

Lot No. 40 - making room for new arrivals, finished off this late bloomer. Highly recommended for rye enthusiasts - good value at $40 LCBO.

@WhiskyBee yeah, I know they are different releases (yours is archived on the site and mine's not if i remember correctly?), but I meant more whether they tasted different or not - the review link you sent helped (bummed mine didn't come out on top, I thought the addition ABV would do 'er!).

Mine's actually stocked at a local private liquor store, not sure how they ended up with a bunch of bottles! I bought mine in November, and they still have a couple on the shelf.

A nice blend of Glendronach 12 and Balvenie 15. Surprisingly, the Glendronach is more prominent on the nose - so much chocolate! This honey / milk chocolate pairing is a sensory favorite.
