Ardbeg Airigh Nam Beist 08! This is one fine drink. Been holding 3 bottles for the past few months and thought no better day than today to try this one.

@Cardinal -- yup, it's muddy here in Valpo, so my shoes could use a good shine as well. ;)
Tonight's lineup includes Balblair 2000 (for which I just wrote a review), a light sweet one that requires a heavy sweet one to follow up. A’bundha batch #32 on deck.

Hellyer's Road Original: Not a Whisky that would be my first choice when I think about the style, all those floral notes but it is so clean and so well constructed, I must confess, it has 'knocked me for a six' (Aust.) /'blown me away' (Amer.)
This doesn't happen often that a Whisky 'from left field' makes me sit up and take notice but this un-peated delicious and extremely intense floral Whisky ticks all tha boxes and then some. The mouth feel is sensational and all those flowers really are, for me, a new experience! I believe they use a lot of small casks down there and this NAS 'drop' supports that - At 8 (or so) yrs. I can imagine a more interesting Whisky & I'm listening to Kurt Elling's latest CD. A double treat!
Slainte!

Yesterday I went to a favorite bar for happy-hour and had a Glenmorangie Astar (I need to get another bottle of this. I had forgotten how good it is) followed by a Bunnahabin 12 (wasn't sure about this one after the cask strength Astar, but it was great). After I got home, Aberlour 16 and a 5 year Kilchoman from SMWS (129.1 - " A Smoky, Peachy, Yoghurt of Loveliness").

Watching Skyfall tonight, started with Talisker 10 yr then graduated to Talisker 18 yr, oh so smooth, after supper switched back to the 10 yr old. Wish I could drink the 18 yr old all the time. Bond...James Bond....

Just picked up a bottle of Kilchoman Machir Bay 2012 release. It is a younger whiskey, 3, 4 and 5 year batches combined. I'm very excited about this whiskey, It is a blast of Islay and even though it hasn't been around as long of some of it's neighbours, it's complexity and and intensity might convince you otherwise. It's a scotch with massive personality! Has anyone else tried it?

@ewhiskey Haven't tried it yet but have a sample bottle waiting, I'm really looking forward to it!

@ewhiskey - I've tried Machir Bay once, but not sure if it was the 2012 bottling. However, I've had other bottling's of Kilchoman and am a huge fan. How they can get that much character and complexity out of whisky so young is amazing!

@bwmccoy:I think they must use 1/4 casks, like Laphroaig and Ardmore. Quarter Casks are just that 1/4 of an ASB (200lt.) or Hogshead (225lt), standardized to 50lt. and they really have huge oak contact and an accelerated maturation.
Cheers

Last drops of the Glenfarclas 105. So sad. What an amazing whisky.

@seanfury Have you tried the Bunnahabhain Toiteach? One of my favorites.

Drinking Aberfeldy again. This stuff usually evaporates within a week from when I open a bottle. Note to self: Need to visit Dewar's World of Whisky at Aberfeldy before I die. scotlandwhisky.com/distilleries/highlands/…

Seems it is not cheap. Is it the worth the extra buck from the 12yo ? @Bourbondork

Well, this is not what I'm drinking now! Scroll down to the Video.
I'll stick with the Caol Ila DE. '93: It comes in a litre bottle, too!

Cracked open the an Cnoc 12 yr that I purchased earlier today...Really nice vanilla/malty/slightly spicy whisky...IMHO a much better value, and overall a better single malt than it's older sibling the 16 yr.

This is my first post and I am drinking my first whiskey that I have bought myself, as I have just sampled other people's in the past.
I am having a Redbreast 12, as I heard it was fantastic for the price. And I am enjoying it quite a bit, smoother and creamier than I expected. More sweet than spicy.

@Dissident Welcome to the "club", and I hope you enjoy yourself as much as I've had in both enjoying the numerous complexities/varieties of whisky, and fellow forum members!

Having a couple of pours of Compass Box Oak Cross. From the old "simple" bottle and the new baby blue w/ gold lettering "fancy nancy" bottle. And some more Elanta. Listening to some Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. Getting stoked for their show just a few short weeks away!

Last Night I was able to head to The first Winnipeg Whisky Festival a fantastic night of whisky and food. A few of the more memorable choices I had to sample: the new Macallan lineup Gold, Amber, Sienna, Ruby. Mackmyra Swedish whisky and it's first edition. Lastly my two favorites of the evening Douglas Laing & Co. double barrel malt scotch whisky and Big Peat Islay Malt scotch Whisky.
