Spirit of Hven Seven Stars

This is an intruiging dram - carefully manufactured and nurtured on the island idyll that is Hven (itself perched between Denmark and Sweden). Hven in Spring, Summer and Autumn is wonderful, as is the hotel complex that has this destilleri - also pot still gin, vodka, summer and winter schnapps. The whisky is balanced, with pine, apple, toffee and fudge, with plenty of vanilla (barrel) and mild hints of smoke. Medium body. Superb craftsmanship and a lovely lighter style of whisky. It reminds me of some of the Mackmyras (Brukswhisky) but with more layers. Basically, Scandi-whisky is exploding now, with around 15 destilleri in Sweden and about 6 in Denmark. Exciting times. You'll have to visit Skane Lan, or Denmark (the latter has of course much easier alcohol laws so everything is more accessible). Well done, Henric and Camilla @ Spirit of Hven.
