This is a whisky review of a 2000cl bottle. This whisky was double matured in Amoroso casks for that extra sherry influence. The result is intriguing.
NOSE: pickled cucumbers, signature Talisker coastal freshness and lovely undertones of medium-sweet sherry. Pine needles, a hint of smoke and bacon jam. As it sits, it becomes more interesting. On the nose there're delightful dried fruits (prunes, raisins, dried cherries) with cinnamon and cacao. With time you'll also get lovely fresh strawberries as well as strawberry jam with mint leaves. All of these aromas are not in your face, they reveal themselves in a most delicate way. That's why to me this nose is amazing. 23/25
TASTE: the taste doesn't live up to the nose. A coffee note with a big Talisker 10-type fresh fruit component. Mineral Mocha, slight peat, vibrant strawberry/raspberry jam and cough sweets which become that much more evident closer towards the finish. There's a tobacco note here as well. 21/25
FINISH: short, clean, slight tea tannins, chocolate, licorice and a ginseng green tea finish (reminds me also of stevia sweetish aftertaste). 19/25
BALANCE: I would argue that the only rewarding part about this whisky is the nose. It's so good that you can't help but get your hopes high. But the flavor and the finish do not live up to them. 19/25
