Teeling already has a number of expressions on the market that were produced in collaboration with DOT Brewery. I even have a Teeling beer from DOT, so I'll have to taste that later. But now first the whiskey, which was finished in barrels of DOT where previously their porter – a firm, dark beer – matured.
Immediately very sweet on the nose, with indeed that touch of porter, which here translates to coffee and even a hint of diesel. Smells surprisingly young. Just shy of disturbing. Some more wood and pear syrup.
On the palate, it is more of the same and becomes surprisingly spirity, which again betrays the young age. The pears, coffee and wood spices return and make it prickling. Pepper, especially.
The porter only shows itself in the finish, which is also relatively sweet and spicy.
I confess, it's far from my favorite Teeling. This one seems very young and wild. Thanks again, Benny!
