This American rye whiskey got a finish in barrels of maple wood. I suspect this means it's even sweeter than the Signature Reserve I tasted earlier. It is already darker and especially viscous. This literally sticks to the glass and slowly pulls down in thick drops. It already looks very tasty.

The nose is as expected very sweet on maple syrup (no surprise), corn on the BBQ, farmer's butter, vanilla and something of mint. The wood is also present, which gives it a slightly drying effect.

Full-bodied and honey-sweet, it caresses the taste buds. Barely any bite except for a little ginger and black pepper. The sweetness is further expanded with caramel and sweets of all kinds. Cloves and ginger give it some warmth. As it has rolled around in the mouth, it becomes a little more powerful. The mint is actually spearmint.

The finish is medium-long, very sweet on rum notes and menthol with some pepper on the deathbed.

I can appreciate this one and think it will also do very well in cocktails.
