- Brand: The Busker
- ABV: 44.3%
The Busker is the range of the Royal Oak Distillery, in which you can find a single grain, single malt, single pot still and a blend. Today we taste the single malt, which was bottled at a relatively unconventional 44.3%. It is a vatting in which both bourbon and sherry casks were used.
Fruity nose on banana and pineapple with sweet malt sugars and some notes of pine cones. Stone fruit. Vanilla. Almonds. Nothing earth-shattering, but very accessible, completely flawless and extremely Irish.
The body is light and the malt is clearly young. I taste the grain. In addition, some yellow fruit and a slightly tropical hint. Soft spiciness. Becomes pleasantly creamy from the second sip. A bit dry, though.
The finish starts sweet and creamy, but then suddenly shows some drying properties and loses its sweetness. Then becomes very granular.
With its price tag of 30 EUR, this is a very friendly priced Irish single malt. Thx, Benny!
