The Leading Scotch Whisky Co Smokey Joe

I was wandering around the single malt section of Total Wine, Fort Myers and came across a malt called Smokey Joe. I'm normally very hesitant to purchase any malt below $50.00 for the simple reason that the taste is often in direct correlation to the cost. The cheaper the scotch the harsher the scotch. This scotch surprised me. Priced at $35.00 it has the smoke and peat flavour of much higher priced malts (Laphroaig and lagavulin. You instantly taste the smoke. There is a hint of salt,seaweed and citrus. On the palate, there is a combination of smoke and pepper. Far from being harsh, the finish is smooth and the after taste is what Islay is best known for, peat and smoke. For those of you who like smoke, peat and the medicinal flavour of iodine, give it a try. I don't think you will be sorry
