There is not all that much of information to be found of this young Tomatin, bar the fact that it’s a single cask that was released in small bottles for The Golden Still (don’t even know if that is a pub, a club or something else). Let’s just try it, eh?
Bright nose on fresh figs, red apples and toffee with a hint of mustard seed and ginger. Some liquorice. Not bad at all, but not earth shattering either. Less fruity that I am used to from Tomatin, but then again it is also quite young.
Good body. Oily to creamy. Honey and fresh figs, sprinkled with quite some spices. It even turns piquant for a minute on chili peppers, candied ginger and lots of oak. Liquorice wood, allspice and aniseed. Midpalate some caramel and apples kick in.
The finish is fairly long and quite warm from the spices. A surprisingly floral note at the death.
Just a tad too piquant and not fruity enough to be really pleasant.
