Tullibardine has already released three vintages on Sauterne Wood (that should read Sauternes with an ā€˜sā€™ at the end of course): a 13 Year Old bottled in 2006, this 15 Year Old bottled in 2008 and a 16 Year Old bottled in 2010, which I have tried (and liked) already.

The nose is very fresh. It is spring in the glass. Soft and oily with all kinds of citrus fruits and apricots on syrup. Quite some honey too. A tiny bit floral and grassy. Very inviting.

It is soft on the palate. The Sauternes has put its foot down. Very sweet and spicy. Cinnamon and some pepper, candied ginger. A slight sour toch as is from lemon. Quince, too. A touch of smoke? Must be from the wood.

The finish is mildly peppery and sweet. It remains fruity until the end.

Pure enjoyment. Bring out the sun, so I can put the bottle back on the table! Thanks, Jos.
