Invited some friends over last night and they brought me a wonderful gift: Lagavulin 16, Talisker 10 and Cragganmore 12 (all 20cl bottles in the Classic Malts Strong Collection). And I ordered a Rosebank Fauna & Flora today, so I'll be stocking up my cabinet again :-)

Having told you all last week that Laphroaig 1/4 cask is £21 in Waitrose, I saw at the weekend they've put it back up to £28. Apologies to anyone who went rushing down to their local store to buy a bottle!

Hi Jean-Luc, Can My Cabinet be extended with an indication whether the Whisky is really in my cabinet or it is a whisky I Nosed&Tasted somewhere. I would like to keep track on what I have been tasing and how I rated it. Thnx, Bert

@BigBird I can't help feeling the cabinet is going to start getting over compicated if another tab is added. Have you thought about using the wishlist section to record that kind of thing?

@BigBird in fact thinking about stuff you've tasted could go in your cabinet history

Got me a beautiful Bushmills bottle last night: Bushmills 12 Year Old Caribbean Rum Casks. This one is matured in American Oak for 10 Years, then 1 year in Oloroso Sherrycasks and finished for 12 months in Caribbean Rum Casks. It's a 1L bottle for travel retail only. Tasting notes will follow shortly.

Hi Everyone, I pretty new to whisky although I have been drinking it socially since the early 80s usually blends with lot of ice. Since 2008, I have started my journey to discover what single malts is all about and it has been a fantastic journey so far. Hope I can learn more on my malt journey here.

regards Albert

Currently enjoying 12 Year Glenfiddich. I must admit that it's nowhere near the perfect whiskey in my opinion, but in it's prize category it's the best you can get.

Currently suffering from a bit of a sniffle and am considering a dram... for medicinal purposes of course. A Laphroaig should kick it into touch.

I went to the Anverness Whiskyshop in Antwerp (Belgium) this afternoon. This is really an impressive shop ... I felt like Alice in Wonderland .... Cave in Whiskyland ... :-) Couldn't resist bying the Glenfiddich Caoran Reserve 12 Year old. I'm curious to uncork the bottle and taste it this evening ... My colleague (RuleDylan) got himself a bottle of Finlaggan Old Reserve ...

I work for Royal Mail and have been offered a bottle of "Blavenie Double Wood 12yr old" and a bottle of wine for £20. An unwanted Xmas tip. Is it a good Whisky?? The wine is a "Wolf Blass Cabernet 2007", if that makes any difference! Anybody got an opinion?

Just added three nice more bottles to my cabinet: The Nikka All Malt, the Auchentoshan 12 Year Old (my third, can't get enough of that one, it's my daily dram) and the Littlemill 12 Year Old (from the closed Lowland distillery).

Does anyone know when Canadian Club started bottling their 6 years aged whisky in the plastic square bottle with the title "Outdoor Pack"?

@bongo: My brother has a bottle of Balvenie Double Wood. You should really try this one with a drop or 2 of water added. This really opens it up!

Tried a glass of the "gentle dram" Tomintoul 16, neat yesterday in Atlanta at the Pacific Rim. Sea air, salt spray in the nose. Very Smooth.

Where are the Scottish blends? Ballantines, Chivas, Johnny Walker? Irish blengs galore, but no Scottish blends to add to my cabinet and rate?

I know some purists consider blends to be the devil's juice, but I for one quite like a good blend now and again. When push comes to shove a blend is still whiskey, and sometimes darn fine whiskey too.
