@badams Scottish blends are on the list of things to add to the site, but thanks for the reminder :-)

This evening I stopped in the supermarket (colruyt for the belgians) to get some food for this evening. I stumbled upon the rack with spirits ... and couldn't resist buying the Glen Deveron 1999 10y. (for €21) I didn't knew this Highland Single Malt ... so I am curious ... My expectations are not very high after reading the review by @markjedi1 in the review section. "Not worthy of your time and tastebuds, in my book" ...oops .. But that made me even more curious ....

@cave I'd say most whiskies are worth a go, it's good to make up your own mind about them. Having the odd below par dram reminds you how much you love the great ones.

@Jean-Luc : Yeah sure ... your right about the fact that it's good to make up your own mind about whisky ... but in this case @markjedi1 was right. The Glen Deveron 1999 10y is not really impressive. Nothing to discover on the palate and finish ... but maybe it's worth its price ... knowing that the price was not much ...

@Jean-Luc : that's a possibility ... but if they don't appreciate a good whisky they can drink a beer ! Lot's of it in my cellar ! ;-)

For the Whisky Live festival in London (26 & 27 Feb), Highland Park is offering a special bottle of 10 Year Old at 59,3% ABV for 50 quid. Unfortunately I cannot make it. Should anybody be able to pick one up, I would be eternally grateful (well, at least quite a while). It goes without saying that I would pay the bottle and shipping.

@sanmiguel: how about helping me out to obtain a festival bottle of Highland Park 10 YO? You can pre-order them on the site of the festival.

Have any of you heard of the Twenty-Twenty blend that was produced especially for the Copenhagen Climate Summit? (image at blog.whivie.be). I wonder if it's any good (since I purchased one at 60 EUR recently).

@JL, I did. Singleton of Dufftown, Goldlys 1994 Limousin Cask, anCnoc 12 Year Old, Glencadam 10 Year Old, English Whiskey Co's Chapter 6, Hibiki 12 Year Old, Tyrconnell Port Cask, Black Bottle Islay Blend and Auchentoshan 1987 Sherry Butt. I've updated my cabinet in that sense.

This seems like one of the more approachable whisky communities on the web - not too many egos as far I can tell and a good mix of knowledge - hope it stays that way.

Nearing the end of a bottle of 7.50 from SMWS. It's a 24 y.o hogshead refill of a bourbon. Absolutely delicious! It's from Longmorn Distillery. It's SMWS description is Battenburg cake and tea. . .decidedly spicy and I shall be sorry for the bottle to end.

Ate at a hole-in-the-wall local restaurant in Luanda called the 'Funge House' where they serve actual authentic Angolan cuisine vs the regular mix of portuguese and other cuisines.
The only scotch they had was a dusty bottle of an 18 YO William Lawson's. I'm sure it said Founder's Reserve, but I can't find much about it on the web. For a blend, and the only scotch available at the time, it was quite nice! Hints of fruitcake and caramel on the tongue, with a long, smooth finish. Anyone know anything about it?

I have a bottle of the initial release Ardbeg Corryvreckan from 2007. Now the mainline release is beginning to trickle into the US market. What do you think? Drink my bottle, trade it, hold onto it?
