Last weekend I went on a little shopping drip in the D.C. area I left with: So the whisky I left your state with:

Bowmore 15yo Darkest

Benromach 10yo

Bruichladdich 10 the Laddie

Lagavulin 16yo

Talisker 10yo

Clynelish 14yo

Glen Garioch Founder’s Reserve

Laphroaig 10yo Cask Strength 005 (new batch)

Islay Mist 8yo

Grant’s Family Reserve (1.75 L)

2 bottles of Bulleit Rye

Basically a cabinet rebuilding session. Although, a few are new to me. Now the question is how long will it take me to open them all?

@Mantisking - congrats on the Stagg Jr. It seems to be a bit polarizing. Let us know your thoughts when you decide to crack it open.

At the recommendation of a connosr cask strength bourbon aficionado, I finally caved and bought a bottle of booker's Kentucky Straight Bourbon. It's about 65%, so it will be the strongest Whisky I have tried, as far as I can remember (Amrut Portonova and Octomore 4.1 were in the low sixties and A'Bunadh jumps around sixty.

Not sure when I'll be able to open it, but as I don't have any other bourbons and I am finishing up some bottles started in 2011, the re should soon be room on the shelf. If anyone wants to help...

Just opened Islay Mist 8yo. I and tried it next to my two standards: Grant's Family Reserve and Laphroaig 10yo. As a blend this Islay Mist holds up rather well. And it does actually have some Laphroaig DNA in there - which makes me happy. A fine purchase; I am very happy with this bottle.

Just received my purchase, Tomatin 30 year old. This expression is not the sherry version, this version is the one that replaced the 25yo. I also picked up miniatures, Tomatin 30 (I like to sample before opening the bottle) Glenfarclas 30 and Glenfarclas 40......very excited to open these miniatures

Looks like they are going to discontinue the Bruichladdich 10 year old "The Laddie" Islay Single Malt Whisky here in Manitoba. A shame I really enjoyed it so I grabbed a couple of the last ones.

@Lars I was afraid of that. Only one left in Brandon, I will grab it if I get a chance. Really enjoyed my last bottle of the Laddie 10. It is already history. Jonesz

@PMessinger It is very nice. I'm not a huge Balvenie fan geneally speaking, but this is the ne plus ultra of Balvenie - all of it's great qualities are here.

Thank you @Onibubba, @talexander, @T4sho3 for your interest. I now have to put off opening the Balvenie Tun1401 due to my visiting stepson who brought me a McCarthy's Single Malt Whiskey from Clear Creek Distillery in Oregon. I'm blessed to have such a gift that we are currently enjoying it. I will keep you guys informed on the Tun1401. Hope @Onibubba you get yours soon. Thanks again guys. :)

I purchased a bottle of the 2011 Thomas Handy yesterday. We opened up five Japanese whiskies on Saturday for a tasting with friends. Nikka Coffey Grain, Suntory Yamazaki 12, Nikka Taketsuru 12, Suntory Hibiki 12, and Suntory Hakushu Lightly Peated were the samples for the evening.

Just bought and opened the 2nd Elijah Craig Barrel Proof release at 68.5% . . . and opened it. And I think I like it better then the first release (which I am tasting along side it at this moment).

Really this is a great bourbon for the money (around $40) . . . it is almost Stagg-ering.

Can't wait till this evening. I'm opening a 'special occasion' bottle, to celebrate a big promotion that just got confirmed.

Not sure which one it's going to be though. Uigeadail, Corryvreckan, Balvenie 21y Port Wood or Octomore.

I might open two because I'm so exited and the last two are only 6ml samples anyway. And just so it is said: I really earned this one!

@wtrstrnghlt congratulations! I know the feeling of accomplishment and what a great way to reward yourself with a dram or two of the "good stuff." I recently just opend my Ardbeg Galileo. ....review up soon....and I just pitched to the principle of my school about implementing tablets into my classroom and he agreed as well as funded my idea so I will be opening my Dalmore King Alexander lll that my wife bought for me last Christmas

@T4sho3 thanks! If you think you earned it, why not open it. I like to keep bottles like this closed as an extra motivator or reward.

Last night I decided to open the Balvenie 21 Portwood and the Ardbeg Corryvreckan. Two totally different whisky's, both beautiful in their own way. It was a candy and smoke evening. As a bonus I drank them during some episodes of breaking bad. Couldn't get any better.

@rigmorole I appreciate the very kind comment. I am very glad you have found my reviews helpful.

If your “dusty hunt” produces any of the Ardbeg batches I have reviewed I would love to hear your experiences.

I just picked up and opened a new Uigeadail batch L13 149, and a review is forth coming.
