I have somebody who is supposed to grab a bottle of Green Spot Leoville Barton and one of Laphroaig An Cuan Mor for me today. I hope my special agent will succeed. For the moment, my last purchase was a Glencadam 14 yo Oloroso. I never tasted a Glencadam and I am curious.

Boss is back to Alberta next week and is picking up a Benromach 10 100 for me. Looking forward to that one.

I have 3 bottles on hold at the gov't liquor store in a city I hope to be visiting for work over the next week or two. They are: Century Ninety 20yo, Gibson's Finest Venerable 18yo, and Bulleit 10yo bourbon. I will check a private store in the same town which lists Wiser's Legacy and 40 Creek Confederation Oak Reserve on their website, but I have not checked to see if they actually have it in stock.

@Jonesz liquorconnect.com lists the stores to which the alcohol has been sent, but doesn't indicate if there is any left. They use a formula based on the wholesale value of the product.
For cheap stuff they list the stores that recently received. For more expensive stuff they list stores that have received stock in the last 3-6-9-12 months. The idea is that more expensive stuff sells less slowly. Sadly this does not always apply to limited single malts.
It was using this method that I was able to locate a "mom and pop" store that had received a shipment of Mac CS a couple of years ago, and when I called they had 9 left. We bought 8 for $73 each tax in, at a time when whisky echange listed it for 125 GBP...

There is a chance a buddy may pick me up a Yamazaki of some sort (told him No Founders Edition though) or a Balvenie 16 on is sojourn to Asia. If not and Balvenie 16 is reasonable when I cross the border though Laphroaig 18 at the right price. Too many if's, but eh that's the rough plan.

Blanton's Gold, Extraordinary! Honey and Spice. A big thank you to @Nozinan for collecting a pair of these for me. This one gets a large score.

At the first (of many I hope) Ontario whisky summit (details to follow from one of the many collaborators I was pleased to meet), I was able to make a significant dent in my "to open" list. I order of when they were opened yesterday ( though they were intermingled with other whiskies):
Writer's Tear Cask Strength 2012 (52%)
Amrut CS unpeated (Batch 15)
Benromach 100/10
Big Peat 46% 200 cc bottle
The Ileach Peaty CS Islay single Malt
The next bottle I expect to open is the A'Bunadh batch 47 (sometime before I turn 48), but given the fill levels of the ones we opened, I think it is safe to say it will be a while before anything else is opened.
And probably a long time before I purchase anything unless something spectacular turns up.
And after yesterday's epic tasting (details pending...), my suspicion is i won't be posting to "what are you drinking now" for a while...

Opening Danfield's 21 & Gibson's 18. Both are magnificent whiskies. Gibson's 18 is rated #15 on Connosr Popular Whiskies. Danfield's 21 is my preferred classic Canadian whisky. Perfect measures of subtle rye spice and crisp clean oak carried on a bed of long-aged, dusty corn whisky.

I'm hitting reset and am now looking for under appreciated bourbons in the $20-30 range after seeing Four Roses Single Barrel Cask Strength bottles hitting $70 and $82 around me.... Wild Turkey 101 at $18 is ok and probably next, and I might try Henry McKenna BIB at $28... Open to suggestions too...

@chrisbator, Henry McKenna is a crap shoot. I've had at least one from a very good barrel, but I've had three I did not like, at all. From the same distillery, Heaven Hill, in the inexpensive category, I'd rather buy Evan Williams Bottled In Bond, Evan Williams Single Barrel, Virgin Bourbon, or (more batch variable) Fighting Cock. If you can get it, give Virginia Gentleman (from A. Smith Bowman) a try also.
You got a good one in Old Grand-Dad Bottled in Bond recently. Don't forget Rebel Reserve. That's a pretty decent little wheated bourbon. Not for the thrill-seeker, though.

Thanks @Victor I'll keep an eye out. ...I'm more familiar with things in the $40-50 range. I'm also itching to pick up either a Lagavulin 8 or 16, having a hard time deciding as I can currently find them for the same price... Think I'll have to try the 8 if I can...

@chrisbator, I think that you are smart to go for the 8 yo Lagavulin over the standard 16 yo, given the choice. Some people will tell you they've never had a blah-mediocre Lagavulin 16 yo. I have...and I don't want to buy another bottle like that ever again.

@Chrisbator I never had a bad Lagavulin 16 but I would go for the 8 because I am not sure it will be part of the core range like the 16 is. But don't expect something as smooth as the 16 or even the 12. The 8 is more in line with the other youg Islay you can find around, even if it is still a Lagavulin. I am sad to say that 2 years ago the 12 was priced at the price of the 8 of today. Now, it is closed to 50% more than the 8 in my neck of the wood. Crazy! @Nozinan Please don't tell me the 12 is aged 50% more than the 8 as an explanation. I know you like to play Captain obvious from time to time, and like to be faster than you from time to time. ;)

I wouldn't have said anything about it because pricing in Ontario and (I guess) Quebec follows rules that are not intuitive. A few years ago Bowmore 15 and Laimrig were lass than $5 apart at the LCBO.
What I can say about the 12 is that it is CS, and the 8 is not, so it's hard to compare prices, especially with a 4 year difference in age.

A dear friend of mine is abroad and might be bringing something back for me. Might be an Amrut regular, might be an A'bunadh.

Thanks to a good buddy, he picked up a bottle of Lagavulin 8 yr 200th Anniversary for me on a day trip out of town and phoned me with the good news. The reviews are promising so I'm pumped for this one.
Also, after some research I picked up a bottle of Glencadam 14 Year Old Oloroso Sherry Cask, Auchentoshan Virgin Oak and Johnnie Walker Rye Cask Finish.
