@goldfilm. You wouldn't even get the bottle of Corryvreckan for $100 where I live, never mind the other 4 tastings and the dinner. Go for it, mate, or tell me where and I'll go. Cheers.

@goldfilm maybe I am just a cynic but they do not say what size your complimentary bottle is on the link.
The meal with the tasters sound like they are worth the money as it stands though.

Thanks goldfilm. Now if I could just find someone to cover the airfare to Boston, I'd be all over it. Sounds like a hell of a good deal to me. Not so good if it's a miniature of Corry as Pete points out. Report back if you decide to go

Yeah, if that's a standard 750 bottle, then the whole deal is pretty sweet. I'd be all over that like stink on a monkey.
Corryvreckan rules. It's the best standard Ardbeg in my opinion. ("In my opinion" = most intense and flavorful in this case.) Go for it.
To answer you title question, my favorite OB cask strength whiskies are Corryvreckan, Laphroaig 10 CS, and Springbank 12 CS. (We'll ignore the technicality of Corryvreckan not actually being cask strength—it's close enough for the sake of discussion.)

The experience was amazing. I've posted pictures here:
The dinner was delicious, the presentation fun, the discussions enjoyable, to my surprise I liked Uige & Corry more than the Perpetuum (too light) & Supernova (too explosive). And yes, it was a steal considering that the dinner at Tryst (where chef Turano works) would be a $35-50, the five drinks would be also around $25-50 (even with half measures, because the Supernova is an expensive bottle and they didn't mind refills for the first three)... and the bottle was $93 at Gordon's (10% off for that day).
The glass is also beautiful and I love the dropper. So generally speaking, a pleasure. Glad I went there, I believe I made up my mind after reading @BlueNote @OIJas comments, thanks guys!

@goldfilm great discussion point and as you mentioned Aberlour A'bunadh that is my favorite cask strength Speyside, my favorite cask strength Islay is what I am still working on. Though not as tough a decision as you face with Ardbeg dinner. (:

@PMessinger I agree with the idea of dividing by style or region. I don't think it's possible for someone who likes a broad range of styles to pick a single cask strengther.
I would say:
Speyside: A'Bunadh with Macallan CS in second place.
Islay: Caol Ila CS (note I haven't tried many Islay CS releases yet) beats Octomore in my view
Campbelltown: Springbank 12 YO Claretwood - since it's no longer available I would substitute 12YO CS
North American - George T Stagg BTAC (my favourite was the 2010), followed closely by Booker's
Elsewhere - Amrut has many stunning CS whiskies and I would say the one with the slight edge is the Peated Cask Strength
Having had a cold for most of the month I am unbiased by any recent cask strength experiences to influence my choices. I think the one I would turn to would depend on my mood at the time. If you match your drma to the mood it can't help be a winner.

@Nozinan It is tough to determine many favorites from many regions. Caol ila is a good one. (:

@goldfilm So are you going to drink the Corry or save it? Sounds like a fantastic experience. Which batch of the Supernova were they pouring? The SN2015? And do you mind giving a list from "most enjoyed dram" to least "enjoyed dram" of the night?

@Nock I'll drink the Corry. Batch L61 749, from April, very new. The Supernova was the 2015. My list from best to least is: Uige, Corry-Super kind of tie, Perpe, 10. The problem with the Supernova is that I couldn't appreciate it in full. It was after three meals one heavy cocktail and three whiskies. Even waiting or drinking water wasn't enough. The nose was weird like nothing I had before. It wasn't very Ardbeg -same with Perpetuum which smells floral-. On the tongue didn't burn, the peat was powerful but doesn't feel as killing as the Octomore. There is something that didn't convince me to get the first prize of the night. To my surprise, I couldn't tolerate the Uige two years ago and now after many more peaty whiskies in my palate, nosed and tasted the sherry, which I loved.

For $100, I got a chance to go to a 4 Ardbeg tasting 3-course dinner that will include tasting the Supernova and a "free" bottle of Corryvreckan. I'd love to go to this event but wandering how much I want that Corry. An Aberlour A'bunadh took me almost a year to finish. I love it but it's not for every week.
I'm about to get an Auchentoshan Valinch, should I also add the Corry to my cabinet? That made me think of best CS bottles out there. A lot of people talk about the Springbank, the Caol Ila, what else is out there worthy the punch and the money?
