@antihero - I hang out on forums pertaining to my various interests (music, movies, sports, whatever), but there's no place like Connosr when it comes to kind, helpful people. Been drinking for 40 years and have 500 bottles in your cabinet? A newcomer looking for a good entry-level recommendation? Doesn't matter -- c'mon in, you're part of the family.
"A gent and a scholar"? That could apply to several members here, but I'll bet good money I know who you mean. I don't have to mention names because 90% of the folks around here would hazard the same guess.

Seriously though, @WhiskyBee and @antihero you are absolutely correct. There is no shortage of quality individuals on this site. Joining Connosr was one of the best decisions I've ever made.

when people have everything to gain and nothing to lose by being friendly and helpful, why not?
I get to drink 20 cc of whisky once or twice a week when I'm lucky. By reading avidly I drink vicariously every day! And it doesn't impair my driving.

Just wanted to share a quick toast with y'all.
I've recently been involved in yet another absolutely enjoyable email encounter with a fellow whisky enthusiast (yes...he happens to be a member here) resulting from some curiosity on my part, Google searching and chance emailing. He's another gent and a scholar, much like so many I've met over the years (and over many a dram). Never ceases to amaze me how much whisky folks like to share, engage and help each other out.
Don't want to embarrass any others, but had a few really cool gestures of unexpected reciprocity tossed my way in the past few weeks as well. When I help someone out it's not for any return, but when that return comes unexpected and unsolicited it's a sweet thing. Entirely unnecessary, but absolutely appreciated.
Nice to have my faith in humanity reaffirmed every now and again.
To all those out there paying it all forward...Slainte.
