Your ideal last dinner drinks...

Hello there, fellow Connosr members! I am really interested in your experience with food, tobacco and different kinds of alcohol (not only whisky). Since it takes a special kind of appreciative mind to spend hours nosing and tasting fine spirits, I assume many of you may be appreciative of food, other alcoholic beverages and tobacco as well. So, if you were asked to come up with your last three to four course dinner, what would your top dishes be and what alcoholic beverages would you choose to accompany your evening? And, if you happen to smoke tobacco, what would be your product of choice?

Looking forward to your comments!

I would stop eating before the last course... that way I would never die... Then I would drink whatever I wanted...

Great discussion topic! Big smiles here.

God, @Georgy how Russian of you! "You're about to die..what small recompense will you indulge in before your inevitable fate befalls you?"

Food: barbequed beef ribs, crab ravigote, pompano en papillote, creamed spinach, ...and sweet potato fries. If they don't have pompano en papillote I will settle for Rainbow Trout. For drinks: give me Ardbeg Supernova ('09, '10, or '15), Bruichladdich Octomore Orpheus 2.2, 2010 Release George T. Stagg, and 2015 Release William Larue Weller. I will drink the drinks in that order, with an interval between them.

This drinking will have to be early in the day prior to the departure. I don't want that drunk death moment karma thing going on.

Yeah, but you want to go out with a nice buzz @Victor. I don't think you have to worry about your karma my friend.

Great discussion topic! This is a hard one to be too specific on because my opinions would probably change semi-regularly, and in the end it would have more to do with the company.

I'd start with cocktails as I do with all nice dinners, a good solid gin martini or a rye old fashioned.

Foie gras and a good vintage champagne.

Then maybe oysters. I would like to say Octomore, but that may be a bad idea for my palate and the rest of the meal that follows... but if we're talking last meal, I guess I can take my sweet time. Give myself 30 minutes to an hour to let the peat fade and a good palate cleanser and I'll be ready to move on to the next course.

As a main course, perhaps something like Duck confit and a super old Burgundy.

I'm not a huge dessert person, but I could get behind a nice flourless chocolate cake or soufflé with something like Red Breast 12 Cask Strength.

Then crack open a bottle of George T. Stagg and light a cigar and drink myself into paradise...

@OCeallaigh Now that's what I call going out with a bang! Nice menu. It's really interesting to consider the fact that there're some people out there who have this kind of your last dinner every time they have dinner.

Well all that matters is the company. And maybe a glass of Glenmorangie Sonnalta PX.
