Well, if it's confusing to our most frequent visitors then it's probably not optimal. I'll rejig it this weekend. Perhaps the-right hand side of the menu can be Discussions News Timeline then a More ↓ options where Community and a few other bits can go in a dropdown.

@Victor @Nozinan @Ol_Jas: The Timeline text link is back in the main menu.

I'll consider this best way to link the community page – it may get partly merged into timeline/activity soon (this section is due an update anyway to meet the evolving needs of the site).

No prob, @jeanluc . I actually jump straight to the Timeline page from my browser history whenever I come here. So I don't use that link—I just happened to notice that it wasn't there anymore.

Connosr rulzzz.

Earlier today we released a update to the global site navigation and the homepage splash screen. Nothing major but I thought I would mention it here...

What you'll notice:

  • The search icon is now positioned top right
  • The user menu icon in the top right corner now shows your profile picture when you are signed-in
  • The homepage splash screen has been reduced in size and now promotes 'Reviews | Community | News'

On desktop devices:

  • The user menu is a smaller dropdown instead of the slide-out panel
  • There is now a global 'Add...' menu available in the top left corner
  • The red timeline live count has moved next to the timeline link in the main menu

On mobile devices:

  • A clearer 'Menu' icon in the top left corner
  • The mobile menu is simplified with larger text links for usability

For users who are not signed in:

  • The site now has a global 'Join' button positioned in the top left corner
  • We have added a 'Shop' button in the top left corner (you won't see this if you're signed-in) this links to a retail partner and the small kick-back we get helps to keep the lights on at Connosr HQ.

Hello folks, I love Fridays because I get a really good clear run at Connosr work with no distractions. Today our timeline has had a refresh (the first in a series of planned improvements).

You'll notice that:

  • When viewing on a desktop browser we have added a 'sticky' sidebar where the filters now live.
  • Also a list of your recent followers has been added here... and recent messages to be added in the sidebar soon @Nozinan.
  • Comment snippets are now styled in a light blue container for better readability.
  • Images uploaded to comments should now appear on the timeline too.

In fact I'm going to test the images with a photo of my current mouse mat smiley

Thanks @Nozinan, the next step is to indicateunread messages but the new sidebar list improves things slightly.

Just adding the finishing touches to a new tabbed sub-menu for user content. This will make it easier to navigate between a user's cabinet, wish list & reviews.

Also there will be list pages to display all followers / followed accounts.

The new tabbed menu mentioned above is now live, just navigate to your cabinet or wish list to see it.

I've got a feature suggestion, and I couldn't think of where else to put it:

I really like the Cabinet and the Stats part of it, but I wish we'd be able to add type/origin to bottles that we add manually that's not currently in Connosr's database.

Right now my stats are showing me as having 18 bottles (25.7%) of unknown type and it would be great if I could go through those 18 bottles and tag them with one of the whisky types listed.

It's not a huge deal or anything, it would just make the Stats feature that much more useful and fun.

edit: Oh, the wish list is now back? Nice! I didn't notice it working again until now. I guess it came back when the tabbing navigation was added? Good job on that btw, looks and works great.

@Nozinan regarding this request:

Is there a way of making it possible to see who likes which comments or reviews?

We have now added a Who liked this? link on comments (where there is one or more like). The link is displayed when you hover over the comment block.

If you click the link it will open up a window with a list of who liked the comment and when. We're planning to roll this out in other parts of the site too...

I like the new features in the cabinet! Thanks!

Is it possible to provide an "export" function, allow the user to export the cabinet list into a .csv or Excel .xls/.xlsx file format? Fields to be exported: Name, Distillery, Type, Region, Date added, Rating

I find it difficult to use the Manage Cabinet across multiple pages... I would like to be able to export my cabinet to a file, open it in Excel to review, identify items that need to be edited or deleted, generate a short list and then come back to the Cabinet to make the changes using the Search Cabinet / Manage Cabinet functions.

I find

@jeanluc The "who liked this " function is great for the comments. I notice though, or correct me if I'm wrong, that it still isn't possible to see who liked things like reviews themselves.

@tfahey1298: I'll give that cabinet idea some consideration. By way of a quick fix would it be better if more items were shown per page in the cabinet? Or if there was a view all option?

@Nozinan: we're going to add the Who liked this? feature to everything that can be liked (which will include reviews) but I just ran out of time to do that last week relaxed

tfahey1298 replied

@jeanluc Actually, a "View All" option might be a simple solution, provided it can be displayed as a table only (no pictures)... like the picture I have uploaded?

A user could then simply copy the table from the View All display and paste into an Excel file.

Dates should be formatted as proper dates, for example dd/mm/yyyy or dd-mmm-yyyy, and the format specified in the date header field: Date Added (dd-mmm-yyyy)

darn! The date header in the picture should read: Date Added (dd-mmm-yyyy)

Since this seems to be the unofficial feature request wishlist thread, I thought I'd post another one:

I noticed that our whisky wishlists are not public. Would it be possible to make a toggle in our settings where we can choose to make them public or not? I wouldn't mind being able to send a link to my wishlist to friends and family when they ask me what I'd like.

I'm wondering... any chance of tracking the date of comments instead of "about a year ago"?

It makes it easier to remember certain things and get the dates correct...

@jeanluc
jeanluc replied

@Nelom – That's a fair suggestion, I'll look into that.

@Nozinan – I tend to favour the "time-ago" solution because it gets around timezone issues. However, I could make the date stamp display via the native browser tooltip when you hold the mouse arrow over the time ago text.

6 years ago 0

@jeanluc
jeanluc replied

@Nozinan – You can now see who likes a review via a new component below the review content. It shows the 5 most recent likes and has a + X others link which launches the full list.

@Nelom – as requested you can now share your wish list via a public url e.g www.connosr.com/@Nelom/wish-list

We have added new settings for Private cabinet and Private wish list for any users who don't want this part of their profiles to be publicly visible. Private cabinets and wish lists are marked with a padlock icon.
