When I read your lines the only thing I can do is to highly recommend you to buy the Uige. I am pretty sure, you will love it. Its the upgraded, more complex, sweeter, more balanced and just awesome dram in my opinion! The TEN is very peat-focussed, the Uige binds the peatsmoke in the other flavors.
If you like sherried whisky AND the peaty whisky, you will just love the Uige :)

You might also like the Lagavulin Distiller's Edition. It's (I believe) a 16 yr. old peated whisky finished for a year in sherry casks. Talisker also has an excellent DE too. I believe it is the 10 with a sherry finish.

@abunadhMatada It is way beyond in complexity compared to the 10. The peatyness is probably similar, but because of the sweetness, it may be seem a tad more tame. However don't dismiss the fact that it is intense all around. The Laga DE is amazing as well and in the same category as the Uige. However for value, I would say Uige wins. $70 compared to $100 here in florida.

Do you get a lot of notes of sherry on the Uigea?? or is it a different kind of sweetness??

You like Ardbeg 10, you like sherried malts. Do you like cask strength? If your answer is yes, don't even finish reading this sentence, just go and by Uigeadail!

The Uigeadail ist not like the Ardbeg 10 at all. Its my favorite single malt from islay. You really need to get the Uigeadail!

@abunadhMatada, what the others are saying is, "Go out and buy the Uigeadail...if you don't like it you can give it to ME." !!!

@Victor Well... this past weekend I did go out and got me a bottle of the Uige... Still did not pop the cork yet... already have too many bottles opened.
But it will be my next bottle to open. I will report back on the experience with the Uigeadail.

Hi. I am pretty new to single malts.. so far my fav single malts are the ones that have influence of sherry. Such as Aberlour Abunadh, Glendronach 15yr... Couple of weeks ago after reading so many reviews of Ardbeg I decided to purchase a bottle of the 10yo. Upon opening the bottle I peat, campfire, iodine,... Not a very pleasant smell at first. On the palate I dont get as much peat as the nose, but peaty nevertheless... but as you hold the whisky on your mouth for 5-10 seconds, I love how complex it gets. I even get something sweet in the end.
My question therefore is,,,, is the Uigeadail more peaty than the 10yo?? or is it better balanced wiht sweetness because of the Sherry cask... I already like the Ardbeg 10 , and since i really like sherried single malts, was thinking i should get the Uigeadail. Is the Uigeadail influenced a lot from sherry cask? Wanted to get your opinion b4 I run out and buy a bottle of Uigeadail.
