I was at a Glenrothes tasting recently and was presented with six different expressions for the evening. While the other five failed to tickle my fancy there was this gem from 1998 (bottled in 2008) that stood out head and shoulders above the rest.
A lovely nose with a strong bourbon burst. Lots of caramel and leather sprinkled with crushed almonds and cinnamon. Very well rounded indeed.
The palate is full-bodied and creamy with a honey and chocolate syrup consistency garnished with black pepper corns. You can keep swishing this one around for a while and not get bored.
The cinnamon finish is long and satisfying. A lovely dram that makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside.
