These showed up in Nova Scotia, at what appears to be much less than at TWE. Now patiently waiting for this and another 2 purchased recently to arrive VIA my sister. Have the 4.1 and I like it but this one is supposed to be much better.

@Astroke , how much is that Black Art selling for around you?

My local guy says it'd be $400 to bring one into his store. Same price at Binny's. Boo.

@mscottydunc , wait—it's significantly less at the LCBO than at American private retailers? Does that ever happen?

Not really a purchase - but an acquisition.

A big thanks to @Astroke for arranging to get the Caol Ila CS from G&M sent from NS to ON. It looks really inviting.

And today the husband of a patient gave me the Chivas 12 and told me the bottle was from before the war. Given there is a UPC code on the box I assume he meant the Gulf War, but I think he thought it might be WW II.

No, I'm not out to figure out if it's worth anything, but just to know if it's worth sharing with fellow Connosrs.

wink

Picked up this vintage bottle of Armagnac at the SAQ as it was barreled on my birth year. The bottling date puts it's age around 29 years. I had to skip my birthday plans this year due to work, but am looking forward to opening it later this summer during a belated party. I also grabbed a couple bottles of Brugal 1888 as I've read many great things about it. It was the first time I had ever seen it in store before, not to mention the LCBO lowered the price from $70 to $40 a little bit ago. It's often regarded as a rum for whisky lovers - seems promising.

Look what I found. OK, not mine. A friend's. But I'm drinking it all the same.

Still a little miffed that I missed the Perpetuum Comittee Release.

Nice score by the way.

@Ol_Jas Very rarely, but from time to time it does actually happen.

@nozinan That is the same style bottle of Chivas that my old man opened on his retirement party. He was given the bottle in 1981, so it was likely distilled sometime in the mid to late 60's.

It was the best blend I have ever tasted, you will definitely enjoy it!

@Pierre A few months ago I traded a bottle of this for 2 of Caol Ila 17 YO "unpeated style" cask strength.

@Nozinan I've enjoyed some fantastic unpeated Caol Ila. Were you pleased with your trade?

At the moment I'm researching "premium" brands. I'm quite enjoying some of the luxurious whiskies. My usual choices are more robust so it's been an interesting diversion!

@Pierre I have never tasted Signet but CS Caol Ila was more to my profile. I would never have paid that much for a bottle, and this way I got 2 at ~$70 each (I had bought another bottle and the person who muled it to me brought this instead). One is close to gone, and happy to have the other for the future.

@Robert99 the 18 I had a bottle of. Not super complex but so easy to drink. I am wanting a bottle of the signet. I'm heading over to Scotland for a tour of Speyside this summer. I'm going to try a dram then to see if I should get a bottle.

@Ol_Jas Yes, like @mscottydunc stated the BA 4.1 is $350 Cad in Ontario (I was able to get the 4.1 for $250 cad just days before it went up a year or so ago) In Alberta the 4.1 is still in the $250 range. That said I paid $350 for the BA 5.1 in Nova Scotia (tax in) As far as I know the 5.1 is not available anywhere else in Canada yet except NS.

Astroke replied

@mscottydunc, that's for the BA 4,1, this bottle is the 5.1, much different from what I have heard, more sherry influence than the wine infused BA 4.1.

I traded a Tomatin 2003 single cask cask strength for this at the LCBO. I had read a review on Reddit with vomit as a descriptor, that was good enough for me. This however is delicious.

@Pierre I can safely say I have not come across that in a SM yet (knocking on wood), and can attest that I got no baby vomit taste/smell from the Bunna 18 smile

Just received my bottle of Dillon's new rye I posted about earlier. I haven't yet tried it, but if it's as tasty as the bottle is beautiful, I'm in for something special. wink
