Yes the CS is very good. I tasted it at WhiskyFest last week and wanted a bottle. They were short of it at BInnys. Bought Amrut 2 continents and Bruichladdich Laddie Ten instead. @Victor

Ardbeg 10yo. Xmas Special and Xmas present: It came in a large tin box and I could see a large Ardbeg glass in the box. So I've opened it up and , indeed, there is a rather lovely glass embossed with the Ardbeg brand name and on the bottom of this rather large glass is a delightful Celtic pattern, however, the glass is a weird kahki / green! Shame!

The Whisky is, of course, excellent and a fine example of this distillery's style but a Whisky glass the color of old beer bottles is difficult to understand.

@thecyclingyogi - I've wanted to try that - but right now my whisky budget is tapped!

Tonight, I'm kind of clearing off the last dregs of a couple of bottles - had an after-dinner Blanton's, and now finished the last dram left in my Talisker 10.

@talexander i took home a 4oz sample bottle from a tasting a few weeks back.... i definitely like it enough to pick up a bottle or two. i'd be on a budget too if i was planning an epic trip like you are. big case of whisky envy over here....

GLENMORANGIE Lasanta: Having read more than a few lack-lustre reviews, some of which were positively damning with comments such as sulphurous, poisonous, horrid sherry etc. (I had even read a Rev. Jim review where he gave 'Lasanta' a mauling), not surprisingly, I approached this Whisky with more than a little trepidation!

I have to say that this example is free from any faults at all and is a superior Whisky that is very enjoyable and much in line with the description given on Glenmorangie's site. The ordinary Lasanta must have been from a previous (certainly different) batch. This has all the wonderful facets so eloquently described by G/M, oranges and cinnamon, fruit and juciness and a superb finish that shows more than a little smoke - And it has been opened one day! A good place to find Whisky faults, even the ellusive ones is in the empty glass, the morning after. This Whisky is spotless and delicious!

Cheers

I've been very intrigued with Clynelish lately and so I am trying a dram of the distiller's edition and I can't say it's knocking my socks off. I like the 14 year far better.

@A'bunadhman ... So I haven't yet been able to track down the ten year, but I am currently sipping on a dram of the Benromach 15 year, and enjoying it thoroughly. Thanks for the recommendation!

@Devo: I don't know the 15yo. If it is G/M's make it must be a fairly recent addition to the range. The 10yo is a fine 'rdop', indeed!

@Wodha. Yow! I paid $105 for my Big Peat up here in the great white north. I think I'm going to start cross-border shopping for whisky. Maybe I'll get my bro-in-law down in Hood River Oregon to shop for me, the deals are even better down there.

@Victor. I'm thinking your life would make a great new reality TV show. Maybe "The Whisk(e)y Hoarder" or "American Whiskey Picker" How about "America's Got Whisk(e)y Talent" with you as the genial host. "The Amazing Race (to finish all my whisky)" "Survivor Scotland" where Victor spends a year living on Islay trying to live only off Ardbeg and Lagavulin special releases and care packages of George T. Stag sent over by Dramlette. The possibilities are unlimited, I'm sure one of the major networks would be all over the concept.

@BlueNote, you charm me. Genial host? Yes, I am that, for sure. I do most certainly drink my whiskies, rather than hoard them, though not at a pace to close out those 150 open bottles quickly. "Survivor Scotland" sounds like great fun...and with no food could even serve as a weight loss program in the absence of my two basketball games per week. That would be very hard, though, if Dramlette were not with me for the course of an entire year.
