@archivist, welcome. I hope your job is as cool as it sounds to me! And I like your "mood picks."

I'm a pen-and-paper kinda guy, too. You'll find that most folks here do a great service to humanity by posting online reviews for the rest of us to learn from and squabble over, but there's room here too for people like me who keep all their reviews only on paper and come here just for the whisky banter.

@paddockjudge thank you - love relaxing with a dram while listening to the radio broadcast of a baseball game. Also nice to know you're a fan of rye! Recently tried Michter's Rye and quite enjoyed it.

Hi,

I'm Lutz and I'm from Germany. My first contact with Whisky was during a journey through Scotland in 2005. Since 2015 I'm more and more a maltmaniac. I am mostly interested in scottisch Whisky. My favorit distillery is Glenrothes. I love their character. I love other Distilleries too like Glenlivet, Balvinie, Glen Garioch. Mosty Speyside. I got my problem with peat and smoke. I don't like it if it's too dominant. If it's part of the composition and more in the background than it's OK. I'm happy to be part of the community.

Hello everyone. I’m a long-time lurker but I think it’s high time I joined up. Just what connosr needs, another bloody Canadian and one from the Maritimes, at that. I started my imbibing career as a wine guy, and especially red wine, but over the last several years whisky/whiskey has become my focus. Tannin holds no fear for me!

@MRick Welcome to Connosr!

We can always use another crazy Canuck. Plus a maritime will make our network truly from sea to shining sea.

You’re lucky - Nova Scotia is the only place so far in our vast land that I’ve seen Ardbeg Wee Beastie. And the NDLS is almost up there with Alberta for some great finds.

I hope you enjoy our group!

BTW, to send direct messages we have to follow each other, so feel free to follow anyone you might be interested in chatting with and I’m sure they will do the same.

Wasn’t it soccer player Pete Best who commented: “I spent most of my money on women and whisky. The rest I just blew.”

@MRick, I always heard that gem attributed to George Best:

“I spent a lot of my money on booze, birds and fast cars – the rest I just squandered.”

...though maybe that's the same guy you're referring to? I have to admit I had no idea who George Best was, except that's the one who said that. :)

Right you are MadSingleMalt, Pete Best was the pre-Ringo drummer in the Beatles.

@MRick Indeed....did Pete Best ever do a stint with Spinal Tap? Probably not, or we would have heard tales of him spontaneously combusting. Welcome (officially) !

@MadSingleMalt @MRick I think the famous footballer was called Georgie Best.

As for that quote, I had heard it was Bogart who said: "I spent most of my money on booze, broads and boats; the rest I just wasted."
