While on vacation last week in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee, we passed through Kentucky's Bourbon Country and spent a couple of days visiting distilleries. During our tours, we picked up a distillery exclusive bottle of Buffalo Trace and personally hand dipped bottles of Maker's Mark. We also picked up a bottle of Four Roses Yellow Label for our friends that use Bourbon for mixers (ugh).

Tonight it's Isle of Skye 8yr old, with more on the way I don't have to worry about running low on one of my favorite blends. :)

May I suggest W.L. Weller? especially if you enjoy the Buffalo Trace@MacBaker62

Opened Wild Turkey 101 last night, a rye heavy bourbon that doesn't disappoint at least at $20 USD. Acquired a bottle of Laphroaig 10yr Cask Strength Batch #4 @ 58.6% ABV. One of the two last bottles at the store. I didn't want to gamble that they might not get more lol :).

Today I acquired two bottles. A Virginia/Maryland only release of Abraham Bowman Millennium and a Wild Turkey Russell's Reserve Cask. I wasn't able to find them but a good friend came across them in a local store and picked them up.

@PMessinger Isle of Skye 8 has also become a standby for me. I really liked the 12, but I haven't seen it around.

Stranahan's Colorado Malt Whiskey, batch # 106, was opened tonight. A friend visiting from Chicago picked it up for me recently at the distillery.

@Bourbondork - That Bowman Millennium has shown up in my local store . . . and I have been wondering about it . . . I have been unwilling to drop $70 on it until I can find out more. Please let me know what you think of it when you open it.

Just picked up a few Glen Garioch 12 yr...Pretty nice whisky; kick myself for not buying a bottle of the 10 yr while at the Binny's in Illinois.

Nice buy @FMichael! The Glen Garioch 12 is definitely worth the low price. A very enjoyable 12 year old Highland indeed...

I just got my hands on the Amrut Kadhambam which is supposed to be a cracker! Not sure if I'm going to open it any time soon since it's so rare on the ground.

@CanadianNinja It reminds me alot of the Clynelish 14 yr with a tad more "sweetness" courtesy of the maturation in a sherry cask, and it also has a bit more "bite" (un-chill filtered @ 48% abv).
Overall - it's a really nice whisky that I thoroughly enjoy.

@FMichael That's the thing about Binny's I always kick myself for not getting enough of any scotch when I get home especially if it is a brand I can't get in Michigan. :)

@Nock I have a sample a friend gave me and to be honest, I like it. The value proposition is there depending on what you're looking for. I pulled the trigger on it because there's not much in the way of aged Bowman Bourbon. The profile is oak notes and dark chocolate. I had some last might and will admit I'm kind of glad I got the bottle even at that pricetag.

Bought a bottle of Laphroaigh 18y for only €50,- today, great deal! I'll keep this one closed for a while though. Saving it for a special occasion.
Also bought a bottle of Nikka from the barrel. Thanks to a recommendation by @CanadianNinja! Will try this in a few day's

@Jonathan Thanks, the Isle of Skye both 8yr and 12yr are out there. My local shop placed orders with their distributors and it showed up a week later. Others here on Whisky connosr have said the same thing about the 12yr being hard to find. Good luck. :)

Just picked up the Port Ellen 31 year old, Diego's 10th Release of Port Ellen. Can't wait to crack it open!

@rigmorole That's a cracker buddy! I just picked up a bottle of this one after having reviewed it about 5 months ago! Smashing little whisky and totally removes the fight that all Scottish whisky must be 12 years or older.

@SquidgyAsh You'll have to PM me that "decent" price (we don't want to scare anyone) =P
