Probably Glenrothes 1998 10 year old bottled at 43%. It was a birthday gift by my scotch club and I'm hoping to open it at our next meeting soon.

Does anyone know how much and where I could sell a bottle of 1966 World Cup (40 years old) Tullibardine whisky?

@Clare I notice you've asked this same question in numerous topics. There are plenty of friendly, knowledgable people here who I'm sure would try to help you if you'd start your own topic to raise this question, rather than spam other threads.. Thanks,

Back on topic, I just picked up a single cask Glendronach and BenRiach (from batches 8 and 10 respectively), as well as a bottle if Ron Abuelo 12yr rum for good measure and a good Old Fashioned!

What a fantastic map of the distilleries! Even the silent ones! Interactive, just click on the distillery name in the top left corner and the map will move to that distillery; it will show others in the vicinity but your choice is in a white box!...I'm very impressed. It even gives a brief history of the chosen distillery!

@FMichael Balvenie Signature: Batch 2 was my favorite, followed by Batch 4. None were bad. Happy hunting.

@Erlend My last post turned to be incorrect, because my lady and I was at Vinomonopolet yesterday, and she bought me a gift, the Balvenie Doublewood. :), anyway, the Auchentoshan three wood is still a bottle I want to get.

My latest acquisition is a bottle from The MacPhail's Selected Single Distilleries Collection, Tamdu 8 year old. I had tried some a few weeks back at Scottish themed pub, as part of a flight of whiskies and liked it. For an 8 year old that costs less than $40US, it is surprisingly good. I hope the newly released official 10 year old from Tamdu's new owners is as good or better!

That new Elijah Craig 12 YO Barrel Proof appears to already have different batches in release. My first bottle was bottled at 67.1% ABV. Today I bought more at 68.5% ABV. Perhaps they have already started to institutionalise this one. I hope so.

Hi all, looking for people's thoughts, here and on the WWW forum, on how to spend about $130 at the LCBO:

a) Laphroaig Cairdeas (2012) @ $99...am curious on how people would compare this to the Quarter Cask, which is currently open in my cabinet. I'm willing to pay the higher price (even if the Cairdeas is not as 'good' as the QC) if the Cairdeas profile is distinct from the QC. The Cairdeas will likely be gone, if I don't purchase it now.

b) Aberlour A'bunadh (batch 44) @ $95. This one gets re-stocked, though not all the batches show up. My perception of general opinion (rightly or wrongly) is that batch 44 is one of the better issues in the past couple of years.

c) Islay Mist 17 @ $80 with probably Lot 40 (an open bottle already in my cabinet) @ $40 (the Ardmore Traditional Cask is not currently available, or it would also be an option here, at $45). I don't know too much about the Islay Mist, other than its malt content includes (is entirely?) Laphroaig. Does the 40% abv water down the profile too much?

d) Knob Creek Single Barrel @ $55 & Eagle Rare SB 10 yo @ $48. While the inventories of these are almost entirely gone, I know the Eagle Rare usually gets re-stocked (not sure if the KC SB does, but - worst case scenario - I could pick it up in Michigan at some point). I'm also a little "bourboned out" at this point, so I've almost talked myself out of this option, especially since the 2012 Cairdeas won't make it back to the LCBO, and I have no idea if they will carry future Cairdeas releases.

Any and all thoughts about any of the bottles or options noted above are greatly appreciated!

I highly recommend the A'Bunadh 44 if you can still find it at the LCBO. I've mostly seen the 45. I have a bottle of it for my 45th birthday next year, and I hear great things about it, but by the time I try it, there won't be any to buy spares.

Anyone know when or if there will be a 46? It's a break from recent tradition to have only one release in a year unless they are increasing batch size...

@Victor I have heard of this second release (no evidence of it in VA). You can find reviews of them from Sku at L.A. Whisk(e)y Society.

He also has a blog where he has recently reviewed Stagg Jr., Elijah Craig 21yo in addition to a head-to head of the two Elijah Craig 12yo Barrel Proof releases. (but no ratings: those are at the LA Whisky site)

That first Barrel Proof release has really grown on me. I still enjoy the Stagg Jr. more . . . but only by a hair now. I could easily see someone enjoying the EC more.

I look forward to hearing your impressions when get around to popping your bottles. However, I realize you are currently trying to shrink the number of bottles you have open.

Thank you @talexander and @nozinan for your comments. I decided to go with my initial leaning, and pick up the Laphroaig Cairdeas as my birthday bottle. The gentleman at the LCBO at the Cornwall Road store in Oakville where I got the bottle described it as very nice, but fairly different from the core Laphroaig profile. He is interested in my observations when I try it.

Different is good in my books as part of my whisky journey. I'm not sure when the bottle will actually get opened, but I am already really looking forward to it. The Abunad'h, whatever batch, may be a bottle I target for around Christmas.

This week I'm going to buy 2 bottles that have been high on my wish list for a long time. Ardbeg Uigeadail and Corryvreckan. Together for about €105,- which is a good deal over here.

I also saw an Aberlour 10y for €21,- can't let that one go by. I've always liked that one, especially when it comes at such a bottom price.

And last but not least I saw a Old Rip van Winkle 10y for €33,- I think I should buy this one before its gone.

Together that will be €150 well spend. Should be to because that would cover my Whisky budget until October I'm afraid.
