Old Rip Van Winkle 10y 107 $58.99, just picked it up. I missed the 15y Pappy Van Winkle by one name on the list. Just happy I got a bottle. @Victor, Thx for all the advice.

Old Charter 10y old. Found 4 of them in Portales NM for $21 each. I grabbed one, I already have 2 handles of OC 10y.

@Benancio, Terrific find!

I suppose you won't be needing a 750ml to decant from your handle ...I very nearly sent one out this week. I'll spend the postage on whiskey instead.

Eagle Rare 10 head2head with Old Charter 10...let me know what you think...you may be surprised.

@Victor - Great flight, your Eleven Canadian Whiskies For The Desert Island. I think we should do this one at the next gathering; purely in the name of Science.

@paddockjudge I really appreciate you intentions. I almost sent you an email last week to see if you were sending the empty, I didn't want to be that forward. My son bought his first home, I dropped in this small liquor store and there were 4 on the shelf, 2011 dates. I'll be here all week, might get one more.

Thank you so much for your offer of generosity.

@paddockjudge. Give me a hint before I leave. Should I get another bottle of the OC10y or save the money and get the ER10y?

@paddockjudge, a little chilly up there in Sudbury these days, I'm sure, though not so much underground. Yes, I am always happy to drink the Canadian Desert Island drams. It's only been a few months since we've been in Canada, but I miss it already.

I am in the mood for a new whisky. I'm thinking I'll either buy a nikka from the barrel or the auchentoshan valinch. Anybody who wants to weigh in on my choice?

@Benancio, Old Charter10, is where Id put my money, and if possible, a smaller bottle of ER 10 for comparison. I believe they are from the same whiny stock...ER10. Is single barrel and OC 10 is a batch run.

Based on reviews and the fact that it has all the prerequisites ( age statement, non-chill filtered, natural colour, 46.3% ABV) I'm going to go for the Bunnahabhainn 12 year old, an unpeated Islay.

So a philosophical question - over the last couple of weeks have received a bottle of Chambord and a premium vodka. Both are nice but not a top preference (Chambord) or needed (already have three vodkas open).

What I would like to do is to take both to the LCBO for credit (no gift receipts) and apply against the Ardbeg Uigeadail. Is this ethically acceptable or should I hold on to the bottles to respect the initial thought?

@JayRain, upgrade to your preference, by all means, especially since you have a good understanding of spirits. I'm sure the gifts were well meaning, but something special is just that, DO IT.

Maker's 46 @ 47% ABV. I gave up on Maker's when they lowered it to 40% ABV. I haven't opened it yet but it looks like liquid gold and I've heard a couple of rave reviews for this batch. * L3143MMB

@talexander and 700ml instead of 750ml, to boot...export bottlings, gotta love 'em. In point of fact though, we were lucky here in Ontario to have continued getting the Aberlour 10 and 12 at 43% ABV until late last year, whereas the rest of the world had been getting it at 40% ABV for some time.

Just purchased a bottle of Collingwood 21 Year Old 100% Rye. It was originally released in 2012 and only 50 casks were produced. They had some left in Collingwood so had a bottle ordered into my local LCBO. I've heard good things and it's drying up quick, will save this one for a special occasion.

Danfield's 21 YO in a large brandy snifter - a very large pour in a very large vessel. A Canadian Classic - Insanely delicious and smoother than velvet.

I am currently curious about Glendronach. I've never tasted any malt from that distillery and I've read lots of good comments. My only question is which one should I purchase for a good introduction to the distillery's spirit.

my favourite of the ones I tied was the 15 year old revival (I also tried the 12 and the 18 Allardice, and had one dram of a freshly opened cask strength batch 2 from my brother in law). The cask strength was a little sharp, but might have settled with a little air (sadly it was consumed before I could come back to it).
