@Victor, that was indeed my plan the last time I traveled home from that part of the world! But then I figured it was both (a) organic material, and (b) a fuel, both of which would very likely fail to pass customs & security.

@MadSingleMalt interesting and curious. Food is organic material, and 69.99% ABV is not yet Hazmat banned from an airplane. Peat cannot be more flammable than Glenfarclas 105.
Were you dissuaded by some one or by something in print?.

@MadSingleMalt that Ledaig sounds like a winner - please let us know what you thought. I love Ladaig 10 and red wine maturation so it sounds like a match made in heaven....

@MadSingleMalt - My mrs will not allow me to burn peat in the house fire . . . spoil sport!
That Ledaig sounds lovely and I'd be interested to hear how you found it. I loved the Amontillado cask but didn't really get on with the 18, which is PX (I think).

@Hewie, that SMWS Ledaig was DIRTY as all hell. It won the club's collective vote for best Ledaig of the night, but it wasn't really up my alley.

Red Letter under a Red Sky. This evenings colourful sky inspired me to source a recently opened bottle of Wiser's Red Letter. Brilliant sunset. Brilliant whisky.

Tomorrow night for our annual American whiskey night, my club will open all the Balcones bottles we can muster. As of now, the roster is their:
•Baby Blue
•Single Malt
•Rye
•Brimstone
I've personally only ever had the Brimstone. It's a wild one that I'm looking forward to watching others taste for the first time. As for the rest, uncharted territory!

@MadSingleMalt cracked this at the Vaults for a tasting early this year, I loved this wee number 42.43. Wee sample

Picked up a few of these beauties online from the distillery. Two hundred fifty of these sold out in thirty-six hours. Wiser’s is doing a lot of good things, making these “found” bottles of Legacy available to the true fans is one of them. A bit of Christmas shopping taken care of.... and some for me too.

@paddockjudge and very quickly almost empty, I see. Must have been a good batch

@paddockjudge from the timeline intro line I expected your second sentence to be, "Two hundred fifty of them." It would have been a new feat of acquisition by The Paddockjudge. I would have been a little bit surprised, but could well have imagined it.

@Victor, haha, a small truckload of Legacy crossed my mind. @Nozinan suggested somewhere north of fifty bottles. I have a strong hunch we will see this now discontinued masterpiece relaunched in some form.

@Nozinan, coincidentally I had an open bottle of the same batch on the shelf. Not many get drunk down that quickly from my stocks.....but my son will be pleased to get this one....

A 22 year old Ardbeg! I've entered the draw and if lucky I'll pay £99 for this bottle! Truth be told I'd probably sell it (if I wanted to keep my manhood in tact that is) but imagine . . . just imagine!

Wiser’s Legacy L16 288, a quality assurance check performed today. The bottle passed and will be shared in two weeks with family.

It was the eve of the Jewish new year, and I spent the day smoking some turkey parts (turned out perfect) with applewood chips and a savoury apricot glaze, and we had 21 people at dinner.
Our first guest to arrive who drinks whisky likes rye, and last time I gave him Lot 40 CS and he liked it. I've been itching to open one of my bottles of Shelterpoint and this was the perfect opportunity. Everyone ended up having it tonight and enjoying it.

@casualtorture which one of the Twentysomethings are you seeing? The 22yo or the 23yo? I remember seeing several bottles of the 23yo at the CoolSprings Wine and Spirits over last Christmas for $559. While expensive . . . it is a good price. I would have bought one if I hadn't already paid more for it at the distillery the previous year.

I don't think I could/would pay over 200.00 USD for something. Especially, now that I have quit my job and need to look for a new one. HA! I am glad I spent my money on the GG 15yo and NFTB when I did.
Ardbeg twenty-something, must cost enough to feed a small village some where.

@casualtorture At a store here in Denver, it is selling for $469 USD. Even if I was an Ardbeg fan, which I am not, I don't think I would splash out that much money.

@ajjarrett I could buy a case of Laphroig 10CS for that...

@casualtorture here is a picture of the 23yo at CoolSprings Wine and Spirits on December 23rd 2018. Notice it does say $559.99. My guess is that if you are seeing an Ardbeg for $279 it is probably the 19yo. I would be shocked to see either the 22yo or the 23yo on a shelf at that price. Those both have a USA retail price well north of $550.
Please note, I am not telling ANYONE to spend their hard earned money on this. It is your money and you are free to spend it as you see fit.
When you spend your money you are paying for an experience: going on vacation, going out to eat, buying a car, etc. How much is the experience of a particular bottle of whisky worth to you? That is totally subjective.
My wife and I just went and visited our son for parent's weekend at this first year of University. For our 2.5 day experience between hotels, food, book store swag, dorm room extras, and gas we spent about $1,000. Was it worth it? To me? Absolutely not! I've see the boy. Send me a picture of your dorm room. Good enough. My wife is already trying to plan our next trip to visit him.

@Nock yes I called the store in Knoxville just to check since that’s a big difference and it was $539 while the 19yo was $279. Either way, not in my near future of purchases.

@Nozinan I hear you. That is how my wife feels. I feel like we could still visit and spend half that amount. She seems unable to visit the boy without showering him with money. What we spent in the bookstore on University branded T-shirts, sweaters, socks, scarves, and proof that we are indeed "proud parents" could have paid for a bottle of Ardbeg 19yo. Talk about over priced merchandise. But I guess that is the lot of a parent with two kids at University. Thankfully, the daughter will graduate early in December!
